I wonder if that's a big factor in why he left. He always wanted to play offense, and save for a couple of times, we kept him on the defensive side of the ball. With Denver's WRs going downhill, that's not a bad place for him to be if he wants some receptions.

Put it this way, he has more career FUMBLES than he has catches. (4 vs. 3)
I remember Champ having one nice 40 yard reception once, but one catch (or even 3 rather) doesn't warrent a tag of "excelled".

Please Champ, dont make me BAAAAAARF. Next week he will be telling us he is better than Portis and Denver should use him at running back.

He is gonna end up hurt if they use him that much...I hope he picks his spots. Even though he is leaving I dont want him to get hurt. I dont wish that on any player.

I hate Bailey. I thought he would become another #28 DG and now we find it was ALL about the money to him. He's already FILTHY rich, why not just play with some heart.

Don't forget he was a great punt returner.

Champ sucked at WR and as a punt returner.

Have you guys seen Portis's carry to fumble ratio? it's fantastic. It's around 1 lost fumble in in every 140 carries.

To be fair, the article notes that Champ rarely played on offense in the pros. He did excel at wideout in college. He probably would have been an excellent wideout in the NFL and could have played on both offense and defense in the same game. Unfortunately, I agree with Tex: He wouldn't last. The sort of beating Champ would take playing both sides of the field would shorten his season and his career.
Deion started eight games at WR for the Cowboys one year, but it didn't do much good. He was supposed to be a big gamebreaker, but he turned out to be a very average possession receiver. That's because Deion would never try to break a tackle; the first guy to grab him always tackled him. There was no power to his game. He played offense the same way he played defense, just not as well. Cornerbacks just played way back on him, not permitting Deion to get behind them. Therefore, he had to settle for a lot of 9-yard catches with no yards after the reception.
I don't think Champ would be that way. He's much more physical than Deion ever was and would try to play that way on offense, too. That's why he wouldn't last. It would just wear him down.

I really liked Champ when he was here. He always did his job, never ran his mouth, and he was tough. It seems like all of the sudden he has become a prima-dona, much like Deion except without the mouth. He wants more money, he wants to play for a first class organization, he wants this he wants that. Now he wants to play WR full time.
Most guys are lucky to play all of the snaps on one side of the ball for the entire season. Now he basically wants to play the entire game. His odds of lasting the entire season are slim if Shanahan allows that. I gotta say Champ has slipped way down on my "Guys I root for that are not Redskins" List
