On JT Show, Prisco said that Kearse turned down a 14 Million Dollar Signing Bonus yesterday from the Titans.
Stay away from him Dan. He misses 6 games next year - minimum. Turn your sights to Grant Winstrom.

Maybe Kearse turned it down because he does want to play for us.And IMO its all about how its structured, much like what we did with Coles.Kearse can be the best pass rusher weve had since gibbs left.He was hurt last year and has had minor injuries but I wouldnt rule him out.Besides hes a former gator LOL.

Fuel up the Jet
Open up the check-book
sign Kearse
solve our pass rush problems for the next 5 years
Hey, Bailey turned down our contract offer, and he may be signing for the same thing. This doesn't mean anything.

I am not sold on Kearse. I know he is one of the better pass rushers but he is hurt a lot. We can't afford to invest 14-18 million dollar signing bonus on someone who can't bring it every Sunday. We have to spend our money wisely.

i also think kearse is way WAY too vulnerable to future injury problems. why is it that DC teams always sign these stars to HUGE contracts and then they get hurt?!?

I am not on the Kearse bandwagon just yet.

I am not sold on him...I still think we may be better served drafting someone.

Ill help hold ya up CarMike LOL.I think Kearse can be a force to be reckoned with.He has had a good year or two posted 13 sacks or better his first couple of seasons. He was primarily hurt last year and a little the year before if im not mistaken.it happens, hes still young and could easily be a stud.Especially if reunited with Williams in a scheme he has already thrived in .

I've never been a Kearse fan, but i have to give him some props.
Started 63 games and has 47.5 sacks. That is crazy production.
For his first 3 years he started every game.
Then his fourth year he missed nearly the entire year. 1 start, 4 played.
Last year he played and started in 14 with 10 sacks.
The more i look at his stats, the better he looks. He's played a lot except for one year. He has been banged up, but to still put up those numbers and start all those games... that's something.
My question is how much did his D line help him.
Kearse Career stats: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?statsId=4664
btw... his career and Dwight Freeney's are nearly identical so far. (Forced fumbles and sacks)

I'd love to see him in a Skins jersy, but not at the type of money I believe he wants.

funny thing is ... any way you look at it ... he's make our D-Line significantly better ... just a question of $$$ and durability as far as the "worth-it" question goes
Which is why Snyder and Gibbs are talking to him now.

Would you want to give a 14 mil signing bonus to a player that had played in 4 games in 2002 and 14 in 2003 due to injury? Hell no...that is 18 of a possible 32 games over the last two seasons....so 14 mil is going to get you a player that can play 56% of your games...no way guys!

I would like Kearse for the right price otherwise, I would rather get wistrom and get a DT in the draft....Freeney is the man cause he went to cuse, thats why...and bc hes rick james bitch...haha

Kearse would be a significant upgrade, and Dan will give him milions of reasons to become a Skin. Hopefully, he can stay healthy and do the damage he did with Gregg Williams, all over again. The last time the skins were in the market for a "stud" DE was when Reggie White was a FA. We all know how that turned out. Since then we haven't had an oppurtunity to get anyone close to "the minister's" caliber. Don't tell me Bruce Smith was still a "stud" when he came in 2000. These type of DE's don't come around very often, so, Dan, get in the copter, and go get "the Freak."

WHat happened to not signing big names? Al Wallace is a guy I think we should take a look at.

al wallace isn't an every down player. he is undersized and hasn't proved himself as a great stopping lineman.

Well, we could use a rotation.

You just can't label a guy as injury prone without looking at the types of injuries. I don't think he missed any games in college because of injury and he started and played injury free his first 3 years in the NFL. His fourth year, he broke his foot which put him out for the season. That foot is fully healed. Last year, he turned his ankle stepping on a lineman's foot and had one of those high ankle sprains. I don't think those injuries classify him as injury prone.
Kearse would add instant pass rush to our front four. The Skins have to talk to him. The question is money. I'm a little hesitant to invest $14 million up front for anyone, including Kearse. The queston is can that money be better spent on other players.
We spent medium bonus money for Upshaw and (help me here) our other starting DE (Wynn ??) (sorry, Alzheimer's again) and neither generated a pass rush. Wistrom might...or he might not. I don't think he has been consistent.
truant raises an excellent question. Tennessee had a great defensive front. Just how much did that interior of the line (e.g. Robaire Smith) help Kearse get all those sacks. If Kearse gets double teamed all the time because our DTs can't penetrate then he won't get double digit sacks for us.

I'm warning you, saty away from this guy. He's got a big name but look at his actual prodcution. Jevon kearse is a VERY overrated player, he had a great rookie year but has not approached those #s since(which by the way was only 14.5 sacks, it's not like this guy had 18 sacks). In a contract year he only had 9.5 sacks last year, the guy is hurt alot and is terrible against the run. In my opinion it would be a HUGE mistake to sign Kearse to a big contract.

Definition of injury prone: IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW THE INJURY OCCURS...it the fact that they do. Call him unlucky...call him whatever...but the man has played in 14 games over two seasons and wants a signing bonus in the 14 mil range. Just because you have a "trendy" nickname such as the "freak" doesn't entitle you to get that kind of money. The man is so overrated it isn't funny. If he wanted that kind of dough he should of lit it up last season during his contract audition..but I guess 28 tackles and 9.5 sacks in 14 games is considered lighting it up and entitles you to that kind of money nowadays....yeah....whatever...I'll take a pass on Kearse if he is asking that kind of money...

I agree that this guy is slightly overrated. He is certainly not the top player at his position, and he should be if that is the money he is asking for. He has never even sniffed 18+ sacks. I think we should find our speed rusher in the draft (Udeze) and bring in Winstrom on the other side.
You have to be careful with who you give the big contracts to. Remember that beating that Coles took in the Atlanta game last season? But he kept coming back in the game and then he proceeded to play the rest of the season with a fractured toe. That is what you want from your big money guys.
I think it would be silly to clear out Champ's cap space and then use it for one player. That just leaves us where we started. I am certainly not saying that we should be thrifty on the D-line though, I think 3 of 4 positions should be overhauled with legitimate talent. I just don't think that Kearse is the right fit.
