Results for the DT were nearly the same as last year. In 2003 Dave Butz got 87% of the votes, this year, Butz ends up with 91%
Here are the current BEST EVER (http://www.hailredskins.com/BestEver.htm) winners from hR!
Now, do go vote for Defensive End

Manley was more dominant than Mann. Mann's numbers dropped considerably when Dexter left. The others were a little before my time but McDole was a stud from what I've read.

Bill will always be remembered for playing well with his "club-hand"! Haley is a wimp with that thumb thing! Thought the "dancing bear was cool when I was a kid! Mann i.m.h.o. probably had the best overall talent, but my vote goe's to the guy that had those intentional late hits vs Chic. in the playoffs!!! That's right>>>THE DEX!!!!!!!! ps to the f.o.! WE NEED A NEW DEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't get the Jeff Bostic vote over Len Hauss. Hauss was a 5 time Pro Bowler with a perrenial losing team. His cast did not include Jacoby, May, or Starke. I constantly read how fans are upset that Monk isn't in the HOF. The same people probably voted for Bostic over Hauss. Sorry Lenny, maybe next year!

I know everyone is going to vote for either Dexter or Charles but Gene Brito went to 5 Pro Bowls in only seven years as a defensive end in the 1950s. Dexter went to just one and Charles Mann never went, I believe. If I had to vote for a more modern day player, it would be Dexter. He does hold the team record for sacks and is the only other DE to make it to a Pro-Bowl.
But Gene Brito should be the selection......do your research Redskins fans!

Gene Brito. Like an earlier poster said, do your research. I've noticed on pretty much all of these "best ever" votes fans usually will vote for recently retired players. I bet on the Cleveland Browns site some people will say that William Green is greater than Jim Brown.:p

Charles Mann. Four Pro Bowls and earned every one of them.

Spence, my friend, thank you for making the point for me....
Mann!!
BTW, Gene Brito was one hell of a player . . .
I never saw him live, but he was the mold from which the others came.

Gene Brito: 5x PBowler
Bill Brundige: Played his whole career (107 games) with the Redskins, 6th on all time sack list
Charles Mann: 4x PBowler, Second in team history with 82 sacks
Dexter Manley:Redskins’ career sack leader with 97.5… Named to the Pro Bowl in 1986… Registered 18 sacks in 1986…
Ron McDole: 2x PBowler, Played 18 years in the NFL…8 yrs w/Skins, Key member of Super Bowl VII team… Known as a durable and dominating force on the defensive line…
Rich Owens: Registered 11 sacks & 11 asst. in one season
Todd Liebenstein: Stats are pretty insignificant...
Some of you may be old enough to remember that Dexter Manley deserved to go to the PB more years then he actually went. The talk in DC, was that because of all of his personal problems, he was constantly being left off the list. This is one of the problems with the PB IMO. 9 years with Skins during the Gibbs reign? Come on? Only 1 PB appearence...
I will vote for him because of this issue because who knows? Perhaps he could have tied Brito's 5 x?
Also, he is the all time leader in sacks

Dexter was the best. Just imagine if he had fewer demons in his life, who knows. We could all be mentioning him in the same sentance with the all-time greats. I love Dexter, one of my favorite Skins ever, he was a human quote machine, plus he had a huge heart. Any ex-Skin who wants his ashes spread over RFK satdium, when he passes away, wow, what a heart. I hope Dex can finally get his life turned around and make it back to DC. I know coch Joe loves the guy. Here's to # 72!

I thought Bill Brundige played defensive tackle. If I remember correctly during most of the George Allen era the front four was Ron McDole (DE), Bill Brundige (DT), Diron Talbert (DT), and Verlon Biggs (DE).

The pro bowl is nothing more than a popularity contest. Measuring a player's accomplishments based upon PBs is just plain wrong.

So being the team's All-Time leading Sack Leader is somehow less impressive than making some Pro-Bowls?

Keino I agree with you the Pro Bowl is no more than popularity contests.
But to breakdown the Pro Bowl - Reggie White and Chris Doleman were mainstays during Manley's time period not to mention Ed Jones and Richard Dent occassionally. Tough era to play DE in and make the pro bowl.
As I mentioned earlier, when Manley left and Mann was only true DE, his numbers declined considerably. He never was the same without Manley playing opposite.

Sorry, I was so incensed with someone telling us to do our homework, when he clearly didn't that I jumped to reply and went by memory. I did say "at least 3", so I wasn't that far off.

I would have went with Manley over Mann. They both where outstanding DEs. I was a fan of Coy Bacon of the late 70s and disappointed he was not on the list.
LAVARPA Charles Mann went to the probowl 4 times.Dexters mouth kept him out of to many probowls.

Voted for Dexter with Mann a close second.
Been a fan for forty years but somehow have not heard of Britto until now. I'll definitely do some research on him before next years voting.
Just an idea for next year, perhaps it might be possible to list a resume beneath the name of each nominated player. That might give the old timers a better chance of getting the props they deserve.:)
Couldn't help but notice the absense of Bruce Smith on the list. I wouldn't have voted for him in any case, but I don't believe there's any doubt that if Todd Leibenstein was on, Bruce should have been there.

NamVet4 really liked the picture of Coy sacking the polish rifle Ron Jaworski. Also i agree with the person who suggested that they post the stats of the nominees so maybe some of the older players get there respect too. AGibbsGirl I guess I am getting old.I read sometime back that before they kept sacks as an official stat Coy Bacon had 26 sacks in 1976 (14 games)with the Cincinnati Bengals .The 4 years(1978-1981) he was with Washington, he was a monster. It was a shame he retired before the 1982 season because he deserved a ring. I think he really helped Dexter along his rookie season(1981).And yes I do believe both deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. They where dominant players in there respective days. And Charles too. I hope they take Rich Owens name off the ballot next year because there have been alot better des to play for us than Richie Redskin.

Wow!! I'm a bit surprised that no one voted for McDole. I had to think good and hard before I voted for Dexter. Ron "The Dancing Bear" McDole was a bad ass. Us old timers remember him all to well. That and the fact that him and Sonny and Kilmer used to go out drinking. Here's a true Ron McDole story......
Way back in the day, A friend and I went downtown on a saturday night for the usual mayhem. We decided to go to The Dancing Crab for a little chow before hitting all the bars. We walk in and see Sonny, Billy and McDole at the end of the bar. Well I'm just flabbergasted. My buddy says "lets go over and get some autographs". I'm thinking "Nah, it's obvious they've been here awhile." My friend says "quit being chicken, c'mon" So we go over and say hi. I'm stumbling all over myself saying, "Mr. Jurgensen, you're my all time hero" Well, they were pretty nice and all, and then my buddy says to McDole, "shouldn't you go easy? You guys have a game tomorrow" McDole stands up and says "Shouldn't you mind your own F'IN business" :D
I kind of shrunk into the woodwork and cussed JT all the way home. Got my auto graphs though.........
ps....Sonny threw four touchdown passes the next day against the Dolphins.

I've been out of the DC area for a while. Is the Dancing Crab still in business? A lot Redskins used to hang out there in the 70's and early 80's.
