I know the Redskins said that Darrell Russell would not be brought back this year, but there seems to be absolutely NO interest in Darrell Russell out there in FA. With that being said, IF Russell would agree to play for a low cost, incentive laden contract should the Skins bring him back for a year and allow Gibbs to try to get the most out of him? He has a ton of talent and has played at a very high level before. What do you think?

If we can't sign Coleman and no one is biting on Russell, I say what the hell bring him back.

If no one bites why not? We'll give him probably double the league minimum and give him one last chance when the injuries come...maybe the contract would be full of bunuses if he preforms, which most likely won't happen. Who knows.

Good point. I'd get him cheap if I could.

There is a reason why Russell can't stay on a roster, I'm curious as to why, but I'm going to trust the front office on this one.

I say we need to go and get Coleman, we need a big body with talent to put in there to rush the passer and he's the best avalible right now so go get him Snyder.

I dunno about this one...

Yes he has discipline issues but wrong with giving him chunk change if no one else picks him up and have him in a back up role?
True he isn't a "Gibbs guy" but not all 53 players will be "Gibbs guys."

I said at the time I thought the move was a bit premature and was reactionary last ditch effort at trying to bring discipline to an undisciplined team.......I don't think he will be brought back though I'd like to see it

Tampa Bay is interested in him, he is as good as gone. I would have like to see him get a chance.

That guy is a cancer. We are already gonna have a hard time meshing all these free agents without some head case that nobody can coach. Some people are self destructive and there's nothing you can do to help them. I for one don't want him, even if he plays for tips.

What about Sapp?
He is the only big name left on the market.

natgbz

Sapp would be a good leader, and he could be our new TE.....

hahahahaha!

I think it might be worth the risk to look at a min. dollar/no bonus contract, assuming their aren't anymore skeletons in the closet we don't know about. I would only do it if he worked out first and proved he was in shape.

TwistyNiblet

Sapp couldn't be our new TE. Arrington wouldn't allow that! He might have to "take him down" again.

Regarding Sapp, seriously, I doubt we get him. He will be asking for a very large contract, and he will get it even if it isn't with us.

Russle priced right is a good option. I dont think he was un-coachable. I think he has some off the field problems. If we can resign him cheap I would say go for it.

Any news about Rod Coleman? I heard something about him signing with Atlanta. Is that true?? I hope not. Any news about Berr also?? Or any other good DL available?

I know. I hope for something like the Winfield's thing with the Jets. I hope it is just a rumor.

Coleman is a great player, but I don't really think we should be going after another DT.

We have Haley and Griffin right now, while we have Wynn and Upshaw/Daniels at DE.

I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather have Haley as our starting DT than the those other guys as our starting DE's.

I think our next move should be for a DE, not a DT. Berry is still available, isn't he?

Last news I have is that he is still available. Would be an interesting addition.

We still need a doorstop at DT. Who would you pick at market value?

Keith Traylor
Gilbert Brown
Luther Eliss
Chester McGlocklin
Marcus Bell (RFA)
Daryl Gardner (if released)
OTHER???

I think we should try and bring back Russell.

Skins57

I would not want Russell back, I would rather draft a DT even a undrafted FA and let him learn Griffin and Holsey if no one else is signed

Sapp for the right deal would be a welcome addition to me anyway

Cerrato made it clear that Russell will not be back. Plus he's close to signing with the Bucs

Russell cannot be trusted. He is one of those guys who sounds great in an interview, but he has his own agenda. He is a very intelligent guy, so he knows how to tell people what they want to hear. I think he is used to slithering out of bad situations with his intelligence and ability to manipulate. He has never been held accountable for his actions. He said all of the right things when he showed up in Washington and then all of the right things when we learned that he would be let go... thanks for the opportunity etc etc. This is definitely not a Gibbs guy.

That being said, we are definitely not set with Griffin and Haley. I don't see Noble being effective this year, if ever again. Maybe the Skins are leaning towards DT after trading down instead of DE.

Didn't he guarantee he was going to resign with us and then signed w/Broncos. He is a real talent but he is not an honorable man and thats what Gibbs wants.

If that is thhe case then when do we find a pass rushing DE.I dont know guys,I mean I trust Gibbs and co. but it looks like by signing only Griffin and Daniels we havent improved that much and our 2 draft picks aint gonna fix all the holes we have at DT,DE,TE and S.

I havent heard anything about us lining up any more visits to address these needs, and it has been hinted that we arent really looking at bringing in any of the remaining DEs.So what gives?Do they believe that Griffin,Haley,Noble(maybe) and Chase are enough? If they intend on drafting one then does that mean we have a DE rotation of Daniels,Wynn and Upshaw? How is that better than last year?

I don't thinkwe're going to have any discipline problems on this team, if we do, Gibbs will set the record straight.
