There are 6 WR in the 2004 DRAFT BETTER THAN COLES. Let alone 20 guys in the NFL... Jesus, Coles is not that good. Route running is suspect, and he doesn't get into the end zone...
L. Fitzgerald, M. Williams, Re. Williams, Ro. Williams, R. Woods, AND M. Clayton are all better and they can be drafted THIS YEAR...
I'm tired of this Coles is a top 5 receiver BS.
Off the top of my head, in no particular order, these WR are better right now
A. Toomer
R. Moss
C. Rogers (Detroit, if Healthy)
M. Booker
T. Owens
P. Price
J. Horn
I. Bruce
T. Holt
C. Chambers (6'4)
S. Moss
C. Johnson
H. Ward
P. Burress
A. Johnson (Houston)
M. Harrison
J. Smith (Jacksonville)
D. Mason
D. Boston
Such Sad People... Jealous as can get.

hmmmmmm........ coles is better than all of the recivers in the draft this year... he's better than charles rogers, marty booker, amani toomer, peerlice price, joe horn, Issac bruce, chris chambers, santana moss, plaxico burress, andre johnson, jimmy smith, derrick mason, and david boston. and he also had better stats than t.o and marvin harrison I think with tim hasslebeck throwing him the ball for 5 games! abd may be just as good as the recivers I dint mention coles is easily a top 8 reciver in the league!

plus being a good reciver doesnt mean you have to catch td's... whats wrong with his route running????

I saw that yesterday when they were thinking they had Winfield. They couldn't be more wrong about Coles. S. Moss is a wanna be coles. You rarely see a guy in the NFL is has as high of a percetage of passes passed to and caught versus dropped as coles does. I remember someone posting those stats last offseason. Coles was in the top three i think. Hey even Brunell said he thought Gardner was also in the top wreceivers in the league at the press conference which we know coles is that much better ya know? Well that is my take

Plus Coles didn't even complain till the end of the season about a secret injury he had in his foot. Now that is dedication.

I can't believe someone really believes that about LC. Even more hilarious are the players listed who are supposedly better. Clearly, that person has no clue how to judge talent. He was exceptional last year for the Jets and was flat out incredible at times for us as bad as our quarterbacking (not all Ramsey or Hasslebeck's fault, mind you) was.
A quarterback with some time to pick out his #1 receiver will get LC plenty of TDs this year!

Top 5 Recievers (in MY OPINON):
1-M. Harrison {incredible player}
2-Randy Moss {another incredible player with some serious issues}
3-Terrell Owens {AGAIN another incredibly talented WR with far too much of an attitude problem}
4-L. Coles {awesome WR, great in the clutch, a true TEAM PLAYER}
5-Antoine Boldin {a great looking WR with lots of room to grow more talented}
That is MY LIST-Right or Wrong those are the TOP 5 I have watched play......Anyways Coles is GREAT WR and I find it hard to believe that ANYONE can knock the talent this guy has..........

Yudo’s top five:
1. M. Harrison: works hard, has great hands, runs impeccable routes, insane burst and creates great separation. Keeps relatively quite, which is a rarity in a big time WR.
2. T. Owens: Whatever you may say about this guy, he does not takes plays off. Huge, strong, fast great hands and is a competitor. A freak of nature. Also has his head way up his…never mind
3. R. Moss: Takes plays off, thinks he is above his team, but has behaved of late. Super fast, great hands, best leaper in the NFL. Allows his QB to hurl the ball as far as he can, Moss just runs under it or jumps up and grabs it. Brings a vertical element no other WR possesses. Has made some of the best over the shoulder catches I have ever seen,
4. T. Holt: Great hands, speed, dedication and work ethic. Makes insane catches on a regular basis. Needs a bigger guy to play across from him. Can get jammed. Playing on the Rams proboly inflates his numbers…I still would want him.
5. L. Coles: Good hands, great speed, has the open field moves of a running back, a very rare thing in a WR, making every play a potentially huge one. Tough, hard working and near silent for a highly paid, star WR. Had trouble early going in his career, but it seems to have built his character. If Jets fans think S. Moss can replace him…well, why do you thin the Jets got ripped off trading for another WR? Should have kept Coles, the guy is a rare talent.

You might have too much time on your hands but you are correct in your ranking of receivers. Good assesment!

Man, I think we're looking through a bit of a B&G tint here.... Coles is good, very good, but I'm not sure he qualifies as top five yet. There's Moss, Owens, and Harrison, obviously, then Holt's kind of on a sublevel by himself. If he performs like he did last year he'll reach that top echelon. After that, Ward, Horn, Chad Johnson, Coles, Santana, and Boston are all on about the same level. Santana and Boston, you say? Well, once he got into the starting rotation, Moss put up numbers identical to Coles', and Boston still dominated when a real QB (Flutie) was playing instead of Brees. Of all of those, I'd probably have to say that Chad Johnson squeaks out above the rest, but not by much.

If you try to access their website you get this message..
"We're sorry but due to the excessive bandwidth consumption we no longer allow guests to view this board. At this time we will no longer accept new registrations either. IF YOU'RE A DEADSKINS FAN DON'T EVEN BOTHER TO TRY!!!*"
Looks like they've had enough second guessing and they hate being reminded that they're the laughing stock of the league by other team's fans.
I guess the Antoine Winfield thing was the final straw.

Coles is top ten in my book.
Harrisson---Simply the best
Owens----Freak of nature with bad attitude
Moss------Freak of nature with worse attitude
Holt------Big play WR great hands great attitude
C. Johnsons------ Young version of TO attitude included
D. Boston----- A beast. Huge!!!! LB size with speed
L. Coles--Quietly becoming on of the best. Great speed and hands
Ward----- Tough nitty gritty WR with great hands
S. Moss------Small but has great speed
I. Bruce---- Fast and big. Lost something over last 2 seasons

Pretty much any NFL team's #1 WR is better than any receiver in the college draft because they have at least 1 year's experience advantage over the college guys.
Plus, college WR's are a gamble. Remember Desmond Howard?

Okay...your right...I am a homer, and Coles is my favorite player. Nonetheless, Coles deserves his spot in the top five, if not the top seven.
Ward is a great possession receiver but not a homerun threat, a competitor and knows when to be silent. Not better than Coles.
David Boston is huge, inhumanly fast for his size but is always hurt, and angry. He was never hurt in college, and he was a stick figure then too. So why is he hurt and huge? Because he is far too large for his frame and many, many speculate that he has had a lot of help to do it. Has a drug issue. Many have said that if he continues his current life style, he won’t make it past thirty. I don’t buy that, but, nonetheless, not better than Coles.
Chad Johnson is very, very good, no question, but he does not bring as much to the table as Coles. Anyways, what team is he on? The Bengals? Carson who?
Santana Moss is not half the receiver Coles is, or else why would the Jets be desperate to get another wide receiver. He has wheels, sure, but gets stuffed, and only had one 1000+ yard year, and his quarterbacks were upright. He is no Coles, not yet.
Let the homer machine carry on.

I think what epitomized Coles to me was the play where he chased down the db after he made a pick and caused a fumble on the goalline to save the Seattle game.
After showing that heart, I wouldn't care if he was one of the worst WR's in the NFL. He would be on my team.

That was a hell of a play and shows just how much heart he has. I will always contest that the Jets are suckers for letting him go.
Edit: Florida St. sucks too, they should not have screwed him.

First of all the players in the draft haven't caught an NFL pass yet so thre is no comparison beyond physical attributes and potential. Some the NFL players listed ahead of Coles say for instance Charles Rogers, I thought staying healthy is part of the game? Coles hasn't caught more TD's because of the system and lack of QB (no offense Ramsey). A running game will help him get in the endzone as well. Don't be hatin'.

P.S. Coles is my new Darrel Green for the Skins. After that forced fumble and recovery the kid had my heart.
