Today's Post says Marcus Washington should feel right at home since he is known for his talking on the field.
Combined with LaVar and Trotter, we just may have the #1 Trash Talking Linebacking Corp in the League.
The Post also said Gibbs was quite interested when he found out Washington played wide receiver in high school.
I'd like to see that picture of you playing wide receiver," Gibbs told the beefy Washington at his news conference. "I'm sure those cornerbacks panicked."

Yeah, that may be so. But I would prefer they tackle RB, sack QB and let their actions do the "trashing".
I hate when they trash talk on the field, it really bugs me. I used to love how Dave Butz would smack someone to the ground and just walk back to the huddle. There is a famous quote from someone:"Act like you've been there before."

Perform first, trash talk second. Few things bother me more than seeing a player start trash talking after making a nice play when his team is down by 30 with 5 minutes left in the game.

I don't have much respect for trash talkers. It seems like most of the truely great players don't feel the need to do it.

We're never going to hear them shut up and then we'll have to listen to Smoot and Spring. Man we're going to have a loud team!

At the very least, we should be able to talk a good game.

i'm kind of a fence sitter on the issue, Art Monk never said a word to anybody he burned, slipped a tackle scored on etc. Monte Coleman (to my knowledge) wasn't a trash talker either.
On the flip side, we have Wilbur Marshall. Excellent LB and he like to talk. But he backed it up. John Randle, this guy's mouth belongs in the HoF. Even go further back, to Deacon Jones or Dick Butkus. Those guys talked, but they(especially Butkus) meant what they said and proved it every play.
What i don't like is talk just for the sake of talk. perfect example being the NFL Films clips of the Dallas/Seattle game when Emmitt brok Payton's record, the Seattle ( i think it was the DE) player kept talking smack to Emmitt even tho he was a first or second year guy and had proven nothing to anyone. He got one semi-good hit on Emmitt and talked at him like he just lay a Lavar-to Aikman hit on him.
If you can back it up feel free to talk, Deion went a little overboard imo but i like players who talk and can back it up. But i also have a deep respect for players like the aforementioned Dave Butz or Darrell Green who did their job ( extremely well) and didn't feel the need to talk about it afterwards.

Talking smack is fun... Dont take it personally... Cause it all depends on your point of view...
Now dont tell me that when TO was standing on the Star in Dallas looking up at the sky, all of you didnt have a huge grin on your face... Cause I did, ear to ear baby! :D

hehe i admit i loved the TO/Dallas star incident, but seeing his sideline miked up footage, i think he's an ass. NFL network interviews or NFL Films interviews and other off the field situations, he seems like a great guy, but the little world he puts himself in and his "game persona" or whatever you want to call it, i find it distasteful personally but if its what he needs to psych himself up whatever.
I just dont like to see it, the Sharpie and Joe Horn's cell phone thing, *uck that, immature self serving behavior, half the time it's a blown coverage or an amazing throw by the QB. That kind of selfishness i feel is unwarranted, but if you clean someone's clock and let 'em know about it, i have no problem with that.

I the best player that I love to hear talk trsh is Ray Lewis!!....even though I bleed burgundy and gold....he and michael vick are my two favorite players in the league... Oh and I'm sure I'll be adding sean taylor to the list.

Not everyone motivates themselves the same. Some guys internalize and get their intensity percolating with internal dialogue; other guys need the overt interaction to get and then keep their juices flowing. I have "favorite" players on both sides of that fence.
The key is performance. If a guy can walk the walk, I have no problem if he talks the talks. It's when his walk develops a limp, but the mouth keeps on talking, that I find myself wanting to install a cleat on the guy somewhere.

All I ask is that you back up all the talk.

I have no problems with talkers as long as they back it up. That is my problem with the amount of Talking Smoot does. IMO he doesn't perform at the same level he talks. He can be a really good CB if he plays with the Talent that God gave HIM and not the talent God Gave Deion.....
I'd like to see our LB corps talk it up as long as they are making plays and winning games.

"Talkin Trash" is an art form developed and presented, at its best, by those players who truly understand how to back it up. Those who talk to hear themselves get little respect and usually end up eating their words, figuratively and literally!

Actually the Redskins are one of the quietest teams in the league. They lack emotion and intensity bc every year they have a new crew of players who are not used to playing with each other and are still gelling. (Are you gellin? I'm gellin' like a felon)
The top Trash talking teams in Football are: (as if i know, yes i am not on the field but i do love intensity and i watch it closely)
INTENSITY / TRASH TALK POWER POLL
Im an NFL expert dont try to argue this

2. Steelers
