Saw this at nfl.com and noticed CP's average on 3rd down was 9.8!!
But more importantly he was a work horse on 1st and 2nd down. 263 of his 290 carries (90%) were on 1st and 2nd down, with an average of 5.1 (combined)
He also average 7.4 per carry in the 21-30 carry stat. WOW.

Wow, that is a real nice stat. I'm thinking a top 5 offense next year.

CP ran well through the tackles at U of Miami. He has a ton of speed and hits holes exceptionally well. I only know that cause I watched a lot of Cane games out of interest for my Hokies. I have no idea about his NFL career though. Ha, not much help but thats all I got.

Denver ran primarly between the tackles, but when they ran their version of the Counter-Trey, Portis got big yards. Portis isnt just fast, he's a very smart runner.

Speed ... see Trung Candidate
Size ... see Ron Dayne
Package ... see Clinton Portis
He never would have produced like he has if he was just fast. And if Dayne is a good example ... size doesn't matter as much as talent!

The trade makes great sense for Denver. Get a 2nd, get a great CB, chrage up the machine and spit out another RB. Works for us too, but I see why Denver would jump at the chance. Only way this blows up for them is if they can't produce a RB this year.
