Landry refuses surgery...again

If he sticks with this decision it probably seals his fate with the Skins.

Landry, meanwhile, has been fighting a bad Achilles’ tendon for 16 months and continues to refuse major surgery.

“I haven’t talked to him,” Shanahan said. “I just heard he’s not going to have surgery. That’s his status right now. Hopefully, that heals up and he’s ready go.”

Hopefully the Dolphins will talk him into it as part of their 20 million deal with him.

This is a player that just can't get right. Its been a year and half we've been listening to this. At some point we just move on and use a draft pick to fill that position.

Mr. Unrealized Potential. Just makes me miss #21 even more.
Good luck getting a max deal on a bum Achilles. As long as he stays out of the NFC East I don't care where he goes.

I imagine Landry is one of the guys that Carlos Rodgers was talking about when he said there were other guys that couldnt wait to leave.

RedskinsDave 01-23-2012 09:59 PM

He isn't worth the trouble.

THIS !!

no one is going to sign him for more than 1 year, or without massive productivity clauses

he is a fool

I'm guessing he thinks he's done if he has the surgery so maybe he can juke another team into some guaranteed money if he lets it heal up and grins and bears it for a few weeks before the inevitable breakdown.

Healthy I'd be inclined to say the same thing see ya.

LOL at Rogers getting ripped to shreds in the NFC title game by Cruz that ought to shut his mouth.

What is he so afraid of? It's already cost him 2 seasons and millions of dollars....what more does he have to lose? Just have the freaking surgery punk!!

Hrabanmaur 01-24-2012 07:31 AM

Can't he at least go to an Indian medicine man? A tribal jungle doctor? A snake-oil salesman? The tomb of St. Anthony? Anything would be seem to be better at this point than just sitting around and letting it "heal" when it clearly is not.

And I agree with you NCSkinsfanatic - I wouldn't be surprised at all to learn that Landry is one of those individuals wanting out at this point.

I'm sure he thinks all he needs is a "better" training staff and a local GNC to get better. Whatever he's doing its not working well enough, but its his decision to go under the knife as it is ours to resign him. Pass.

sigh.

Such a shame.

Landry met in December with Dr. Robert Anderson, one of the country’s top foot and ankle specialists, and was told that he would need surgery on the injured Achilles’ tendon, which has limited him to 17 games over the last two seasons. Anderson believed that barbs on the bone in the area need to be shaved down so the tendon wouldn’t continue to be snagged when the player tried to run, Landry said.

The Redskins, according to a person with knowledge of the situation, are taking a wait-and-see approach. They know that when healthy, Landry is an impact player. But at the same time, there are serious questions about whether he can return to that form again.

Landry has said he has no problem signing a one-year deal to prove that he is healthy and pursuing a big payday next offseason. But the Redskins are determined not to overpay even on a one-year deal and are content to determine how much interest Landry draws on the free agent market before deciding whether they want to match or top those offers, or let him walk.

shally 01-24-2012 11:25 AM

are they lighting candles for his ankle ?? doing Voodoo ? Hoodoo?

there are some folks who have tried lithotripsy (same process they use for kidney stones) but that doesnt sound like what they are doing here.. maybe magnets ? copper bracelets ???

he is p*****g away a lot of money here

DaveKShape 01-24-2012 12:02 PM

i don't understand this. if he doesn't get the surgery, he's more or less done as a reliable starter.
