This is all smoke and mirrors. The guy(s) that get brought in here probably haven't been named in any of these wide ranging guesses by these writers.
I think it'll be something whacky like Bradford or one of the Houston QBs Leinart or Yates. Perhaps even something more whacky like trading for that Kaepernik(sp?) kid if the 9ers are sticking with Smith long term. It's Shanahan, everything we're hearing is misdirection. |

as much as i would prefer NOT to sign Peyton and go with a draft qb, it would serve the purpose of freeing up the top of the draft for a wideout, or OT. Getting Peyton, drafting Jefferey, signing Nicks, and using the second rounder for someone like Konz would jet start the offense.. plus, i could easily see someone like Wayne or Garcon being lured to DC by Peyton use the 4-5th round for Rainey and a second day/third day pick for Cousins/Foles/Osweiler/Harnisch/Keenum/Wilson etc and we could see the Offense transformed in a single offseason |
I continually see the pro-manning crowd writing stipulations "if he is healthy". Everyone continues to ignore the simple fact that Peyton is not healthy. Not only is he not healthy, the type of healing he has to do is the slowest there is.
He will be released the first week of march and free agency begins the week after. No doubt, he will be signed by the end of march. There is no chance in hell he suddenly fully heals in 45 days. So he isn't healthy and he isn't going to be when the bidding war starts for him. This isn't a secret. So if you are in the bring manning here crowd, you are really just rooting to bring an unhealthy manning here. I can't wait to have redskins park turned upside down for a 36 year old qb whose arm doesn't work like it use to and whose neck is one hit away from another surgery. Yes this will solve all our problems. Go skins! |

I was just watching some ESPN and had the following thought:
TRADE for Peyton using the 5th round pick acquired from the Pats for Haynesworth. It's essentially a sixth round pick. We did this a few years back for Erasmus James if I recall [a seventh rounder if he made the team] Once he is acquired and off the market, give him the money that is due but change the roster option to a signing bonus so that it's prorated over 4 years. Make his contract one that is incentive-laden and low base salary. If we wait until my birthday[March 8th] there will be a bidding war. Thoughts? |
I Think we are more likely to sign manning than we are to take rg 3 unless he is still there at 6,in which case,i could see signing them both.:giantsuk:
