Flashback ! Country erupts in insurgent warfare
Scores Die In Wave Of Iraq Attacks
The way it started over 30 years ago . . . In a place far away . . . in a nation that never quite accepted what we as a county were trying to accomplish. . .
~ sad ~

The widespread attacks in Sunni areas across Iraq on Thursday are a direct threat to the new interim government which is to take over on 30 June. Dozens of Iraqis as well as some American soldiers were killed in the assaults on military and government installations. Its dilemma is that it must rely on American and other foreign troops, but it is the presence of those troops which motivates the insurgents

Those who forget the past tend to repeat it.
Don't make the same mistakes again..
(not supposed to say the "v" word the administration doesn't like it.)
They keep saying "we knew this was coming" I wounder what else they know is coming.

A very clever media campaign by the insurgents. There are two anti-occupation movements in Iraq right now. One is being waged by Iraqi nationalists who want the U.S. out of their country. The other is being waged mostly by non-Iraqis who are part of/allied with Jihad International. I think they are both in on this, which means they are now co-operating on broad, nationwide anti-occupation operations.
Bad news for us.

on occasion...the fact that these guys are working in concert with each other is a very scary proposition...even moreso than the tet offensive in my opinion because these guys are actively seeking ways not only to keep us out of their country like the Viet Cong, but they're actually looking to destroy our way of life...not a comforting thought.

Subtle grasp of the obvious my friend. This war needs an overhaul from top to bottom. ~ sad ~

For the first time since the start of the war in Iraq, a majority of Americans say the United States made a mistake in sending troops to that country, according to a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Thursday.
Fifty-four percent of those polled said it was a mistake to send U.S. troops to Iraq, compared with 41 percent who expressed that sentiment in early June.
Most poll respondents, 55 percent, also said they don't believe the war has made the United States safer from terrorism -- rejecting an argument that President Bush has repeatedly advanced in his rationale for the war.

And while six in 10 of those polled said they believe Kerry could handle the job of commander-in-chief, most Americans indicated that they trust Bush more in that role, 51 percent to 43 percent

I "really" don't understand.

yeah, it's odd: more people think Kerry would be a better overall Commander in Chief, but trust Bush more as Commander in Chief. Odd.
