Broadband users, how did you vote?
The Center for Media Research has a new study out on that subject.
Quote:
The CMR based their information on a Leichtman Research Group study measuring broadband penetration in households and how those households voted. Overall penetration in the states voting for John Kerry was 33% and in the Bush states it was 25.1%. The U.S. overall had a penetration of 28.6%.
Some notable facts included:
· Eight states had broadband penetration over 35% - all voted for John Kerry in 2004
· Eleven states had broadband penetration at or below 20% - all voted for George Bush in 2004
· Cumulative broadband penetration in states that voted for Kerry was 33% - compared to 25% in states that voted for Bush

Interesting. Traditionally, the more affluent and educated you were, the more likely you were to vote Republican. That changed in the 1990s and changed even more in 2000, but this still surprises me. I'd like to see a pretty thorough demographic breakdown of people who own broadband. Bush still carried the rich in 2004, though Kerry did better with the most educated. Bush crushed Kerry among those with a high school diploma or less and I'm guessing those people are less likely to have broadband in their homes.
Anyway, if you're in this forum you probably like the Internet and voted in 2004, so I thought you'd find this interesting. I think I'll chuck in an unscientific poll, just for the hell of it.
