Default Where positions do we upgrade?

I don't know if this is in the right forum so here we go. Now that we're at the midpoint of the season I think its a good time to reflect on our team and see where we can make improvements. Obviously everybody sees the need for a pass rushing DE. However, what other positions should we try to upgrade via draft and/or FA? Here's mine:

1. DE - Daniels hasn't been doing too well. Also I would prefer and ND Kalu type or small school DE (or 2) that can be a pass rusher. Somebody we can bring in on 3rd down. And if the cap savings are favorable, I say dump Daniels and get an everyday DE to compliment Wynn.

2. OL - Sure our offensive line has improved but I think we need some more depth. If Samuels or Jansen were to go down, I think we'd be screwed. Also, Dockery has continued his inconsistent play and if he doesn't improve I'd like to see us pick up a big, young guard to plow the way for Portis. Picking up a couple of young prospects in the position wouldn't hurt.

3. KR/PR - Before the season started I thought we had this position on lock for the next 10 years with Antonio Brown. But an evil case of Rod Gardner syndrome proved to be too much and he was released. Now we have an unimpressive Thrash and worse Betts running back kicks. We need a gittery little guy back there that can make things happen. Thrash is serviceable but not a playmaker. I'd like to see us pick up a person that would be a threat. We don't have anybody like that (outside of Moss) on our team.

4. P - Our punters have been mediocre at best. I miss Tupa. We need somebody that can boom them when we're pinned against the wall. Our punters haven't been able to do that this year so I say we pick up somebody. (PS. Is that guy from Tennessee coming out? Colquitt I think he hame is)

5. CB - Surprised. Well I'd like to see some more depth here because our CBs (Springs and Harris) are good but they're both on the wrong side of 30. We need to be prepared just in case one or both go down to injury. Rogers certainly helps though.

Our lack is in depth, and that mostly steams from lack of draft picks every year, I would say is a problem. We should have 7 draft picks, but somehow we always end up with 5 or less. A guard to challenge Dockery would be nice, I also would like to see a little more depth added at the DT position. I love Salavea, but after him we are in a little bit of trouble with Noble constantly being hurt. And Killings has nothing more then a cool name IMO.

I was also disappointed by the play of Antonio Brown. He gave us something we never really had, speed and the ability to break a PR/KR at anytime. We need to find someone that will be a threat at KR/PR.

DE is another position I think needs to be upgraded. Daniels is not performing and Wynn is not getting any younger.

Needs

1. DE, pass rush is absolutly a neccassey and can't be ignored.

2. OL, depth is the biggest issue here as was seen by Ray Brown at LT.

2. LB, if LaVar is traded this becomes a need specifically in the middle.

3. WR/KR, some speed in the return game.

4. DT, a big run stuffing DT that can hold the line and be developed for depth.

5. CB, depth is needed in case of injury and maybe some speed to se in the return game.

6. TE, a big blocking TE that can push sir drops a lot Robert Royal onto the bench.

In order of importance,

DE- Daniels simply must be released in the offseason. We need either a multi-purpose stud (ala Charles Mann) or a combination of run stopper on short downs and a pass rush specialist on passing downs.

DT- Griffin is our only real good DT and Salave'a is solid but over 30 y/o. Noble is injury prone and probably gone. Everyone else are journeymen. We need a huge, young player here.

OG/OT- We need depth here, somebody that can play either and someone that could possibly push for a starting position at Guard.

CB- Springs and Harris are old and Jimoh should never be on the field other than in special teams play.

TE- We need a traditional 280 lb TE that can block and catch occasionally.

K- Need a long term answer here.

P- Same as above.

DE- We haven't a decent pass rusher since Charles Mann.

TE- Royal isn't the answer at TE, we needbig blocking TE that can block and catch the ball.

CB- Springs is getting old we need some youth at the position.

OL- Need some good young back ups

K- Hall is good when he is heathy but stays injuried to much.

Man I was really impressed with Robert Johnson, the tight end out of Auburn that we had on the preseason roster. Big guy, great hands, good feet, good blocker from what I saw. Certainly can't be any worse than Royal. He has sucked for years.

I think the CB depth situation can be addressed in FA.

Ricky Manning's (Carolina) and Daunta Robinson's (Houston) contracts both expire at the end of this year (this according to a 2005 Video Game).Neither are making much money (once again according to a 2005 video game), they're both young, and they would both serve as a decent if not better back-up.

I also think that TE is just as big a need as D-line if not a bigger issue:Royal stinks, Kozlowski's ancient, and Sellers serves as more of a fullback.
