Video Game Movies
Just wanted to know everyone's take on some of the past and future video game movies. On a side note, I don't have a link to post, but there is a Halo movie in the works, and it is being produced than none other than Peter Jackson with Guillermo Del Toro to direct. Del Toro is an excellent director, with Jackson producing and WETA actually doing the effects, then Halo might actually be a good movie to see. So long as it keeps the game's soundtrack.

I hate most (if not all) video game movies but Halo should be really cool with Peter Jackson working on it. Del Toro was confirmed as director but I then read an interview with him saying it is not set in stone yet, it all depends on whether he can get Hellboy 2 rolling and schedule both of them, I think he said if he has to choose between the two he'd choose Hellboy.
Either way they'll get someone good to do it, Uwe Boll will not be coming anywhere near this one. I remember really liking the Mortal Kombat movie when it came out and I was in like the 4th grade, now I see it on TBS every one in a while and die laughing at how horrible it is. Johnny Cage's nut punch on Goro is still a great moment though.

DOOM was pretty bad, The Rock being the only thing that was good in it. That and the FPS camera view.

Halo could work as a movie just because it is such a linear story, but it could easily be a giant flop.

Doom wasn't pretty bad. It was horrific. I rented it. I couldn't even finish watching it, I was bored after 25 minutes(but I watched close to an hour).
I can't think of a video game -> movie that I actually thought was good. Mortal Kombat was fun, but thats BECAUSE it was terrible. Comics->Movies are better.

Super Mario Brothers is still to this day the best video game movie.

I only watched the first and it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. That means I kind of liked it.

That's because most comic movies have a fully developed plot with multidimensional characters. Very few video games can rival the storylines of a comic book series that has been running for years.
