Pick the QB: Mark Brunell or Trent Green.
You know, I was pondering this question and thought I would introduce it here for discussion:
This year only, who would you prefer as the QB, Mark Brunell or Trent Green?
Trent Green and Mark are both close in age, and have a common OC: Al Saunders. Trent has more familiarity with the system and Mark has familiarity with the receivers.
Who do you pick and why?

I took Trent because of his familiarity AND success in the system.

I went with Brunell because of the intangibles. I feel green has had more talent around him and yet still has not progressed in the playoffs. Last year Brunell guided our team to the second round. I believe Brunell is a better leader and will do better in Saunders system with better talent now surrounding him.

Brunell, only because he's already in the system. Brunell and Green are basically comparable when it comes to skill, though.

green has been in the system for the last like 5 years now. he has run saunders' offense so efficiently, has been a model of consistency and durability(give some credit to the chiefs oline though). im not dissing brunell or anything, but i think we'd do better with trent green as our qb next year than brunell. both would take us to playoffs though.

Trent Green easily, he's played almost his entire career in KC without any good WR's and he's still produced. The only consistent threat has been Tony G. Put him in our system and he would be awesome, and right now Brunell isn't any more of a threat to run that Trent is. Overall he's just a better QB to me.

i was about to vote green until i read your comment. that makes a lot of sense to me. green has had much more to work with over the years and has not been able to guide the team that far. brunell got to the second round of the playoffs with 1 receiver.. of course, he had a defense to bail out the offense..

Brunell. Why? Quite simply, were winning with Brunell, Gibbs trusts Brunell.

While Brunell isn't a Michael Vick, he's much more mobile than Green is. With a nasty defensive division, we need a QB that can throw on the move. Not to mention the fact that Brunell's got a connection with Patten and Moss that Green would need the whole year to have... if at all.

I vote Mark b/c he is our QB and has been for the last couple of years and he will probably do just as welll if not better than Green in his first full season under Al Saunders. Green is far less mobile and he has benefited from the "two headed" running game and a stout OL....Marks my guy!

But if gibbs had the choice still think it would be Brunell? Id take whoever gibbs wants as well but i think Saunders would want Green.

i dont really think brunell guided us to the second round of the playoffs i would give that credit to the defense more then anyone else but i would pick trent over mark because he's so familiar in the system....its not like mark has gret chemistry with all the recivers either he's only really familiar with moss and patten

Well I hope I have not created a QB controversy here. In the end we will have Brunell as our QB, but I was just wandering what everyone thought about who could do better as the Redskin QB this year, Trent Green or Mark Brunell.
I think I can honestly say that this question has had some interesting answers.

this question is definitely a no brainer. Trent green is one of the most consistent players out there. he has produced with a team that has a bunch of mediocre no name wide receivers, and with a terrible defense but still yet they have managed to be an elite team for the majority of his stay at k.c. Brunnel is a decent qb but i dont think he can deliver as much as green has already done.

they have managed to have the #1 offense in the league that past 2 years, and in the top 5 dating all the way back to Vermiel with the Rams, despite a crappy defense. i bet Green would love to play here now for Saunders.
