Default Colts place Simon on IR due to Illness

link

This is a huge blow to their run defense, as witnessed by their early season results against the run. Wonder what it could be? NFL network said it wasn't life threatening.

this will hurt Freeney a lot...with no one else on that line, they'll be able to have the entire left side pay more attention Dwight to make sure he doesn't get to the QB.

Sounds vaguely like Mono. Viral meningitis doesn't last that long and bacterial meningitis is life threatening. An antibiotic resistant Staph a. infection ala Brandon Noble could be it as well, although they have been known to be life-threatening is odd cases as well (flesh-eating bacteria).

I am thinking Mono could be a good call b/c it was reported on NFL network that this was a very difficult decision for the Colts to make. That leads me to believe that he could have returned at some point this season, but it was probably too costly to stash him on the roster with the time he was expected to be out.
This should help us control the ball and eat some clock when we play them I hope.

i would say mono, too, but he wouldn't check into the Mayo clinic for a battery of tests if that's what it was. with mono, you run one test, if that's it, you go home 5 minutes later and sit on the couch for a couple months.

Default Good Scoop!

Thanks, I was about to post it!!! Its buzzzing all around here now! man I wish some more of you guys could come to the game, but be as it may, the few that will be here should see a dandy. I think Simon's abscence will only force the Colts to pursue a short passing, ball control game on purpose to keep their defense rested, which is their key. Look for us to do the same against the Colts.

Simon however was missed in the last two games, as the Colts struggled to get opposing offenses off the field. Very interesting.

Actually, without Simon I expect to run early and often against that undersized DL.

i think they are going to totally forget about defense and simply try to outscore people

yep and its unfortunate that its the type of illness that literally keeps the player out of the game! I would like to know about it, but his privacy is his right. I hope the best for him and pray for his health. I always loved this guy's motor and commitment. Just too much hard luck on him.

Well we do have to play the game, sooooo

A short passing game, but score each time would be a better choice than for them to do a shootout, because that would mean their D, is back on the field if its a quick score. Their D isn't likely to handle it that well. A big benefit that is likely, is they will have Vinateri instead of Gramatica to kick.

it won't be easy. but the way to go at them is simply to run at them until their tongues hang out..
