Poll: Who Do You Want to See Back Most Next Year?
Read the question, and answer. Who would you like to see back next year, given the ability to only choose one. Joe Gibbs, Al Saunders, or Gregg Williams?
We all want to place the blame on Al Saunders. But apparently the dismal performances we are seeing are due to Gibbs' control. But if Gibbs has full control, what are we paying Saunders $2million/yr to do? If it's look pretty, he's failing miserably on that as well.
Gregg Williams.......I thought he was a disciple of Buddy Ryan's 4-6? The only 4-6 I see is our potential record. Arizona, known for a weak offensive line over the last few years, have improved nicely with Russ Grimm. But Kurt Warner had all day to throw on way too many occassions. What happened to the aggressive blitzing?
Joe Gibbs has been hampered by poor clock management, and conservative playcalling. But, he is still finding us good players(Montgomery, Griffin, McIntosh, Campbell, Taylor, Cooley) more often than busts(LLoyd, Archuleta, Holdman). And while we can't be looking in the past, it can not be ignored what he's done for this team in his first tenure. To me, without Gibbs, we'd be falling apart terribly this year. So changes need to be made, and it's my belief that Gibbs is the one to right this ship. Not the other two.

I chose Williams, though I'd like Williams AND Saunders back.

Williams. But he has to learn how to change his game plan. Just because something worked against the Lions doens't mean it's going to work week in and week out.
We should have pressured Warner ALL game yesterday instead of giving him time to pick our defense apart.

Williams (maybe, and definitely not as the HC).
Edit: Actually, I would be curious to see Saunders on his own as well.

I think this is a needless poll/thread at this juncture. Anyone who decided these things after 6 games is a fool IMO.
My answer is most likely "all" if we make the playoffs.

I tend to agree with Smoak. Its way too early to say...
After all, only a few weeks ago, many of us wanted Snyder to buy out GW's contract and boot him out of town. A few weeks later he is back to being the defensive brainchild from the view of the fanbase and the media. Of course, if he defense gives up 40 points to the Pats, everyone will come crashing down on him afterwards...

we as the fans seem to be at a major crossroads though. i dont want to try to think of how many posts i've seen saying we need to fire either of the three, much less all of them need to go. so as a collective whole, i want to see where we stand. who do we think should receive the most credit, and who should be taking the blame.

i agree with smoak.. way too early to tell
but i will tell you this much, i dont think williams comes back as DC if someone else is brought in to be HC.. especially if he has a top 5 defense once again.. he will get a second shot as HC somewhere
that said, i am not sold on GW as a head coach.. so, if we get into the playoffs and win a game or 2 all will be back.. if we miss the playoffs,
i believe that all 3 will be gone

williams. obviously has his own set of issues but if this year continues as it started the results are good enough for me.
I certainly don't want the gibbs/saunders combo back next year, maybe one of them. I will say that the last thing I want is gibbs moving up to a front office/gm like position. He was a great coach, but he never was a front office guy and I certainly don't like how he has gone about building this team in the last 4 years.

While I think it is great for fans to opine on almost all topics, I think this thread and other comments are useless until the season is over. I heard the same BS in 2005 and that ended well for us. While I am not prognosticating ANY success this season (it certainly looks iffy now), I think February is the appropriate time to have the discussion. Until then I think it supports me theory that fans just don't "get it". Take the names off the current coaching staff off the page for a minute, and lets guess/assume that we make the playoffs this year (big leaps I know, but we are in a playoff spot now)
After Pettibone, Norv, Shotty, and Spurrier, if I asked you would you want a coach/coaching staff that gets us to the playoffs twice in four years, would you have said "no way lets go in another direction"? While we have UNDER ACHIEVED (let me say that again UNDER ACHIEVED) with Gibbs at the helm, we've made the playoffs the same # of times as his predecessors, and he has given me personally about twice the number of meaningful games. I know that might be a bit of a stretch for some folks, but I never had faith in Norv, and I always felt we'd lose b/c he was such a putz. I actually really like the Marty team A LOT, and never despised Spurrier who was more miss than hit but goofy and entertaining unlike Norv who was just a jerk.
So far, I would say Gibbs has righted the ship, but not come close finding the promise land. Does that mean I willing to man the lifeboats? Maybe if we start taking on water, but we're still afloat right now. Its not a loss (yet) and the final chapters are far from written. Until then, I stand with my captain through right and wrong. Does he need to get better? Yep. But we've seen this team adapt and improve.... In fact, I'd argue that we played better down the stretch in every season so I expect that again here. If not, then lets talk, but until then this thread just drips with "Eagle-ness" to me. I'm sure I'll be pinned a homer or Kool Aid drinker but I'll be damned if I am ready to quit at 4-2. We came close to crapping away our season yesterday, but we didn't. Lets learn from it and go slaughter Goliath.

Gibbs should go into the front office as team president. I'd like to see both Williams and Saunders back, anyways, but I don't think either one would make a good head coach.

I voted Gibbs cause it most likely means All will be back. I like Williams and think he will eventually take over but Good DC dose not always make Good Coach (see what has become of Marvin Lewis's D). I pretty much agree with everything quoted above as well(expecailly the bolded part).
