Default Ark's Mock Draft

1. Rams- Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma- Adam Schefter and a host of other mock draft sites have Bradford or Clausen in this spot. I think that the Rams fully expect to be awful next season and would rather take the franchise QB then solidify the D-line. If they wait on Locker first or second overall next year, it will be too late for Spags and company, taking Bradford gives them an excuse to keep their jobs.

2. Lions- Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State- The Lions have so many different directions they could go here, many people have elite defensive prospects McCoy, Suh (if the Rams pass) and Berry. The way I see it you take the elite guy who improves whichever unit is closer to being respectable. The Lions offense could actually do some damage with a competent line, a good TE in Pettigrew, a speedy RB (Best in the 2nd) and another receiver opposite Megatron.

3. Buccaneers- Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma- WHAAAT!? No Suh?! I can hardly believe I did this myself, gee what a thought. So Tampa is apparently in love with Suh, he is the better talent, Suh's knee injury concerns plus McCoy being a better fit in Raheem Morris' D give him the slightest nod in this selection. This Franchise has to chip chip chip away at the draft for a good 3-5 years before they make any real noise, and they have to be safe. Tyson Jackson over Aaron Curry last year may not be the best example since both McCoy and Suh play DT, but it shows the importance of scheme value over overall talent level.

4. Redskins- Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska- Yes I did it... I put the monster known as Ndamukong here. The beast from the dense cornfields of Nebraska (actually mellow/hippie Portland, Oregon). But wait Ark what about Offensive line? What about Jimmy Crack Corn Clausen? I stand by my earlier point I made with the Lions pick, that you choose elite players to complement the side of the ball you are better on, to put the unit over the top. With a front 7 of Suh, Kemoeatu, Fat Albert, (possibly Joey Porter), Rocky, Fletcher, and Orakpo our D would literally devour teams alive. Our offense would still score 17-21 points a game but our D would only allow 3 to 10! In reality though... We take Clausen.

5. Cheifs- Eric Berry, S, Tennessee- Got to continue upgrading that defense and an elite talent like Berry would be a perfect fit. Bulaga, Davis, and Williams will be considered, but the Cheifs will roll the dice and take their chances on finding a gem in the later rounds.

6. Seahawks- Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame- Pete is back in the NFL and he knows that his two first rounders are absolutely critical in rebuilding this team. While offensive tackle is the most pressing need, he knows that at least one of the 3 remaining studs should be there by the time the 14th pick comes up.

7. Browns- Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida- I can't help but pity the Browns, they always seem destined for failure no matter what they do in the first round. Only Joe Thomas and Alex Mack have worked out, they may as well keep drafting O-linemen. After getting rid of Kamerion Wimbley the Browns are likely to replace him with this raw yet athletic pass rusher.

8. Raiders- Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech- While everyone has crazy ol Al Davis taking the "athletic monster with no talent pick" I have the idea that he will finally be convinced by a scout or close friend that he needs to stop doing that. The massive reach on Heyward Bey last year has to wake this man up, he can't be this incompetent, can he?

9. Bills- Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa- I really want to put this guys name next to the Redskins pick, but I can't, not yet.

10. Jaguars- Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State- he has a lot of character concerns and issues but the man is a damn good wide receiver. He is on the same talent level as Crabtree was last year.

11. Broncos- Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama- Instant starter, upgrading the D in Denver big time.

12. Dolphins- Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee- After signing Dansby to a huge deal, aquiring a big time NT will be a must for Miami, and big Dan fits the bill, the Bill Parcell's way of building that is.

13. 49ers- Joe Haden, CB, Florida- Although he ran a 4.6 at the combine he rebounded nicely in his pro day today by running in the high 4.3's and low to mid 4.4's. Clements has been dissapointing to say the least and San Francisco could use some talent here.

14. Seahawks- Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers- Carroll fills his two biggest needs and sleeps with a childish grin on his face this prime-time Thursday night. The same childish grin he had when Reggie Bush would score a touchdown every other play for him back in 2005.

15. Giants- Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida- I have made snippy comments before about how Dunlap's football roster picture makes him look girlish, but make no mistake, when this guy plays to his potential he will make Romo and every opposing QB cry like a girl.

16. Titans- Brandon Graham, DE, Michigan- If anyone watches Big Ten football and has seen this guy play, they should have known right away that he was going to play on Sundays.

17. 49ers- CJ Spiller, RB, Clemson- The need for offensive lineman can wait till the later rounds as the explosion known as Spiller is still on the board.

18. Steelers- Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma- Looking for an offensive line upgrade and Williams gets the nod over Iupati due to his potential of being a left tackle in the NFL.

19. Falcons- Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri- I really hope the Redskins can get this guy as I feel he is going to be a star in the NFL. Atlanta addresses a huge need and Weatherspoon leads their D back to dirty bird prominence.

20. Texans- Earl Thomas, S, Texas- Houston has a huge void at safety, and local product Hi my name is Earl Thomas will make an instant impact.

21. Bengals- Everson Griffin, DE, USC- The Bengals can go many different ways with this pick, but I have a feeling they would like to add a physical monster in Griffin to rush the passer.

22. Patriots- Sergio Kindle, OLB/DE, Texas- New England is keen on developing huge talent, and a stud like Kindle would be an ideal rush linebacker for the Patriots coaching staff to mentor.

23. Packers- Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland- The combine monster is picked accordingly, that is unless Al Davis gets a little too excited.

24. Igglez- Taylor Mays, S, USC- Philly finds their new safety in bonecrushing hitter Taylor Mays. He may be a huge liability in coverage, but as long as he can destroy people over the middle while he develops coverage skills, Philly fans will tolerate him.

25. Ravens- Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State- Corner is the biggest area of concern for Baltimore. They luck out in getting the 2nd best corner in Wilson at 25.

26. Cardinals- Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma- Arizona has to upgrade the TE position. Now that Warner is gone, Leinart will need a buddy to help him not look as bad as he really is.

27. Cowgirls- Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho- As much as I hate seeing this big bastard mocked to Dallas it seems like the most likely scenario.

28. Chargers- Ryan Matthews, RB, Fresno State- San Diego has to find a new premiere running back after dumping Tomlinson. Matthews should be the right guy.

29. Jets- Devin McCourty, CB, Rutgers- Looking for a corner opposite the shackling Revis. New York fans will rejoice that their defense, on paper, is over the top.

30. Vikings- Colt McCoy, QB, Texas- The quarterback of the future has to be picked, as Favre will likely call it a career after this next year. Minnesota will be pleased that they will have someone to look forward to other than Tarvaris Jackson.

31. Colts- Brian Price, DT, UCLA- Indi needs DT help so they choose the big man out of UCLA.

32. Saints- Maurkice Pouncey, OC, Florida- Ensuring Drew Brees has the best protection possible, New Orleans takes the best available center to upgrade the line.

The rest of the Redskins picks...

2nd round- Charles Brown, OT, USC
4th round- Sam Young, OT, Notre Dame
5th round- Ed Wang, OT, Va Tech
7th round- Emmanuel Sanders, WR, SMU

I know the Suh pick is absurd and we will probably end up with Bulaga or Clausen, but... Who friggen knows!

Very solid mock, I agree that despite going with a 3-4, the skins won't pass on Suh if he's there. Put talent on the field.

One issue: I don't think the Seahawks are going Clausen after dealing a 3rd(and swapping 2nds) for Charlie "I've never thrown an NFL pass and since I went to Clemson I need a new brain" Whitehurst lol

lol are you serious? They traded for Whitehurst!?! Wow... I had no idea, I remember him playing for Clemson, but I haven't heard anything about him doing anything in the NFL. I suppose I could get a little creative and swap the Clausen pick with Bulaga and give Buffalo Clausen.

BTW nice "Archer" avatar, that show is awesome.

WOOW if that were to happen, I would be elated, if nothing else just to dangle him for more picks.
My question is, if Suh is taken first, do we go after mccoy to dangle him? or do we stick with an original plan.

I'm not a mccoy fan, but what do I know.

It's tough to determine what we would do if McCoy were available to us, as he is rated by most analysts to be a top 3 talent, and scouts.com has him rated 1 point higher than Suh last time I checked.

We all know that O-line is by far the most painful need the Redskins have, so if we go ahead and take Bulaga I think all Skins fans would be happy. Although we have to consider the whole franchise QB "golden rule" of the draft, if Clausen is worthy he will undoubtedly be the pick. However if a superior talent like McCoy is up for grabs like you said, wouldn't it make sense to take him and try to work out a deal to trade down? If Cerrato were still GM/Puppet boy he would have somebody sprint our draft card with the name Clausen on it as fast as the Orakpo pick, but a real GM would try to gain as much value with whats available as possible.

My gut feeling says that after Clausen throws on his pro day he will blow Shanahan and Allen's minds and become the next Redskins QB. BUT... If Seattle is nice and comfy with the idea of superstar Charlie Whitehurst then I wouldn't be surprised if we hijacked the Raiders and traded McCoy away for them to pick. We jack their second rounder and we get Clausen at #8. With two high second rounders we could get Charles Brown at left tackle and Roger Saffold at right.

How great would it be to create an entirely new offensive line, I mean come on, we have freaking Levi "I can't get a phone call from any other NFL team" Jones, Dockery's big head who doesn't fit zone blocking scheme, Rabach and Mike Williams the luckiest men on the planet getting re-signed, and Stephon "I'm one second too slow" Heyer. Artis Hicks... Ugh. This line is a disgrace to the NFL.

It all happened so fast, to think of how Samuels, Thomas, and Jansen all became old, got injured, and left this line in shambles. The Skins are MORONS to pass on Michael Oher, and I promise you I was one of the only people who was upset when we took Orakpo cause I was talking up mister blind side for months before the draft (not on this board), wishing and hoping he would somehow slip past Buffalo. I'm still not sold on Orakpo, he has potential to be great, and hopefully will be, but 4 of his sacks came against Mario Henderson, without those he wouldn't have made the pro bowl.

Anyways I'm drunken rambling about the Redskins, one of my favorite things to do. Yay St. Patty's day!

In some magical reality we trade McCoy to Oakland for #8 and get an extra second. We trade Campbell for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. We trade Carter for a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

Clausen starts right away and pans out to be our next Joe Theismann, we get Charles Brown and Roger Saffold as bookend tackles. We get Montario Hardesty with Campbells pick. We draft a solid guard with Carters pick, someone like Matt Tennant from BC. We use our 4th rounder on an actual FS, someone like Major Wright of Florida. 5th round we get a ILB in Pat Angerer. 7th round we take Clifton Geathers or Emmanuel Sanders.

How sweet would it be to find not only 6 or 7 starters in the draft but guys who actually make a real impact?! Only in my crazy drunken reality I suppose. April 22nd can't come soon enough. I desire to know the future!

Nice job.

I do think Suh's chances of falling to us are less than 10%, however. I can't see the team who saw how important Sapp was would pass on Suh at #3. And...its not impossible to think of Bruce trading out of #4 to a team who wants Suh.

Keep up the good work! A great addition to Akh to fuel our aching-to-be-GM fires. And I think the chances of Suh falling to us are more like 25-30%, because the first 3 picks make so much sense. But what does Holmgren have now - 12 picks? He will be a mover IMO. What do you see?

Agree on the chances being low, somewhere between 10%-30%. My aching to be GM fire is in full inferno right now, pro days really get me amped up.

Holmgren is definitely going to do something, he may leap to our pick to grab Eric Berry before the Cheifs get him, or maybe Gerald McCoy before Seattle can get him. If he really wants Clausen and knows that we want him, he will probably do some dirty dealing with the Bucs. I'm sure he realizes the upper echelon "L337" players (Suh, McCoy, Berry, Bradford, Okung) will be gone by the time he picks at 7. Allen has got to swing something nice for us Redskins fans.

The Caddyshack vid you posted dJ_stouty is one of my top 5 comedy scenes of all time. Absolutely hilarious, I laugh every time. The Wang double entendre's never get old.
