Default It's not just Meg: Lou Dobbs hired illegals

What's up with anti-immigrant right-wingers hiring illegal immigrants themselves?

Lou Dobbs has apparently been using illegal immigrant labor for years to maintain his estate and work in his daughter's stable:

Meg Whitman is somewhat older news, but she seems to have employed an illegal domestic servant for years despite having received a letter from the SSA suggesting that her employee's papers were not legitimate.

Man liberals are confusing me as much as the anti-illegal folks. I get the hypocrisy of anti-illegals who hire illegals but could someone from the left explain where we should or should not question the status of latinos. The same people who called the Arizona law xenophobic and racist are getting giant hard ons over someone NOT doing just that.

I think people who questioned the constitutionality of the Arizona law were concerned about how the law seemingly required legal latinos and only latinos (be they citizens or here by other legal means) were being required to carry documentation simply by virtue of their heritage. When a law targets a group of people like this how can it be called anything but racist?

If you hire someone, there is already a duty to check their legal status, or at least ask the question and that has nothing to do with the Arizona law.

That was the original way it was written and it was never enacted. People still screamed like banshees over the actual law when they clearly didn't read it. One of those people in the lawyer who lives in the White House.

So I have to check anyone who works in my house but cops can't check someone who is stopped for a legal infraction? That can't be. Should I assume that any Latino who comes into my home is illegal and demand paperwork or is that racist? I can't get this straight.

Would you like to have cops asking you for your birth certificate every time you get pulled over on a traffic stop?

Or the Fed judge who blocked parts of it because the Feds would almost certainly win their lawsuit on the constitutionality of it lol.

I don't think this situation fits with your complaint. The Maid gave Whitman a SSN. The SSA mailed Whitman saying it was fake, which meant she was probably an illegal. Whitman didn't fire her.

Honestly, the Lou Dobbs thing is the real story here. Whitman's hiring of an illegal only matters for 2 reasons:
1-she's clearly rich enough to hire someone legal
2-She suddenly(and probably for cynical political reasons) moved towards anti-illegal positions.

Whitman's an idiot, Dobbs is a raving hypocrite.

Employers have the duty to check the legal status of ALL potential employees not just Latinos. Nice try though.

I seem to remember a Clinton Administration SCOTUS appointee who had to withdraw herself from confirmation over that very issue.
