I don't think Shanny plans on flipping Cousins for a pick this year or next. I think the plan is to give RGIII the reps in the preseason as expected, let Cousins do all the mop-up work and in 2-3 years, when RGIII is either the obvious franchise QB or a bust, give Cousins most of the 2nd team reps and see if he can net us something close to what the Eagles got for Kolb.

The Kolb deal is why there won't be another kolb deal lol.

Any QB who shows flashes will always be sought after. Too important of a position.

Yes, but after Kolb, you aren't going to get that much in return except in a conditional trade(but I doubt that even then). If the skins wanted to deal Cousins, right before you pick him is when you do it. If Cousins never sees the field in regular season games, the skins will be lucky to see a 5th for him. And with 5-8 legit Qb prospects potentially in the next draft, the Cousins' value will keep dropping.

What about the Matt Schaub deal?

Kirk Cousins is a pretty good prospect he would have been a 2nd rounder last year IMO.

Here is a opinion I just read on the Kirk Cousin pick.....He makes a good case on the pick.

"Why draft a QB 3 round later…Oh I dunno, because you need to revamp the entire QB unit and the only people Grossman and Beck scare are their own teammates and coaches? Nah….crazy crazy stuff!

If Griffin is emotionally wounded by this and needs to have his hand held (your assertion not based on any evidence whatsoever) then that makes the Cousins pick all the better. Either way they are upgrading from Grossman and Beck and no one sensible with a pulse would argue that they haven’t upgraded significantly in the process even with 2 rookies."

The short term flipping rumor for the pick makes no sense and that is why I don't believe it. I think the quoted plan is correct, or simply it is for Cousins to be the backup for the forseeable future (Grossman will be around at most for this season).

Mayock chimed in on the subject last night. He figured that Shanny realized Beck & Grossman weren't the answer and the Cousins pick was just a step in getting rid of both of them. Grossman will be on the roster in 2012 because he is the only experienced QB in Shanny's system and will be jettisoned ASAP after they are comfortable with Cousins.

Let's be fair here, RGIII's been a Redskin for nearly 3 days and has done absolutely nothing. We've not won once yet and we're no nearer the playoffs than we were before we signed him.

I say bench him for Cousins before the season's over...

Usually Akh analysis errors. LeRibeus is known for his strength, and did 29 reps at the combine on the bench press. That doesn't mean he'll pan out, but he is strong.

Cousins wasn't drafted to be traded, at least not primarily, he was drafted because most teams graded him 2nd or early 3rd round pick, and he slid to the 4th. We have no 3rd string QB, so it was a smart value pick. Long term, this is smart.

Drafting two guards is not mystifying if Leichy rehab not going so well or is a question mark in general, or if the team is just serious about doing what they said they would do: creating solid depth on the OL so they can weather injuries and protect RGIII. We now have 4 Gs plus 1 developmental G on PS if Leichy healthy, and if he's not, we have 4 Gs. Who is to say Hurt, LeRibeus, and Gettis all pan out? Or that Chester finally clicks this year? Two Gs makes sense and was smart.

The only thing I really question about this draft is not taking a second T, but who knows. . . They can be tough to stash on PS, and maybe yoga has truly helped Brown.

From PFW:
Quote:
Hand use is inconsistent — shows little pop or power in his hands
and from the NFL:
Quote:
Leribeus is a bit slow and struggles athletically. This could be a problem at the next level, as he isn't a very strong or explosive blocker
There's a difference between weight room strong and on the field strong. One of them is useful to the skins, one of them isn't.

I'm not repeating myself.

I've only seen highlight videos of Albert Morris, but he's like a bowling ball. Lots of YAC and seems to have faster game speed than his 40 would indicate. Could be a great goal line and short yardage back, if not just a good compliment to Helu's speed.

So the bench is irrelevant?
Nope.
He is a nasty, fierce blocker.
