Just Imagine....
Alright, we're assuming for a moment that Bill Bidwell has the least bit of football sense in him (I know, I know, it's a reach). Let's go back to last offseason. The Cards, rather than freeing up the largest amount of cap space in history, resign Jake Plummer, resign David Boston, and don't sign Emmitt Smith. Marcel Shipp starts. The draft goes the same.
The Cards could have actually been a force this season. They have an above-average offensive line, and with Plummer, Boston, Boldin, and Shipp at the skill positions, they could have put up some serious points. Their defense wasn't very good, but perhaps if they had retained a player or two there in the offseason as well, they could have really made a push for the postseason.
Picturing the Cardinals with that much offensive firepower is scary. Just food for thought....

And if they had a coach like Air Coryell again. Look out!

I think McGinnis is a pretty good coach. Really, who would rack up wins in Arizona?

I don't think Boldin would have shined as much with Boston on team

He'd still probably have had a 1,000-yard year.

I'm with you on Plummer and SHipp, but not Boston.
Shipp was the best back in a Cards uni since Adrian Murrell

Was? He's still a Card last time I checked.
And, to clarify, I think both Boldin and Boston would have had 1,000-yard seasons.

Boldin would have been solid, but he wouldn't have broken the rookie record for receptions in a season.
And who is still a Card? Oh, Shipp. I knew that. You were talking about the Cards NOT signing Emmit and starting Shipp. I could have put it in better words.

As, uh... helpful... as that was, at least you understood in the end. Anyway, yeah, I doubt Boldin would have broken the rookie record, but that would have been a pretty scary offense.

Very interesting thoughts Joe.
The only part I'll disagree with is this. Didn't Boston sit out a large part of the season due to an injury? My point being that even if the Cards kept Boston he wouldn't have played for them either. Just like he didn't play that much for the Chargers.
I do agree 100% about McGuiness. He's a great hC. You give him an owner who will help him with better players, he'd be a winner quickly.

He sat out something like three or four games, nothing too major. Besides, who's to say he would have gotten that injury with the Cards?
