how about Champ?
so does anybody know what is going on wiith champs contract now? does he want to stay because now he will be coached by a legend rather than the golfer! I hope he stays!with a little D-line help and some safety help we would have an outstanding defense. and our offense. with the way Gibbs and Bugle like to run the ball and coles. it will be pretty tough to stop! but will champ take a pay cut to stay with the team or does he jsut want out of DC?

He will be franchised, so he stays or we will get a pick from him. Either way, I’m happy. Have fun in Detroit Champ: they certainly have the winning tradition you pine for...

If he does indeed go to the Lions, we would have atleast the #5 pick and their #6 pick. So, hypothetically, we could take both Sean Taylor and Kellen Winslow...not bad.

Champ hates it in Washington, with or without Gibbs. I love Champ as a Redskin, but I don't think he is as good as he thinks he is. I would take a #1 for him.
Why want players here that don't want to be here?

When Gibbs sits him down and talks to him, he will decide if Champ needs to move on. I am sure that D. Green has talked to Champ by now. All the times that Champ has said "If I am here next season, it's on the team." well let me let you know buddy,......... if you are on the team next year, It is up to you. Gibbs won't beg......... he doesn't have to. He will make Baumen a better player and sure up the D Line. Smoot and the rest of the guys that want to be here will share your raise over the next few seasons.

You got that right. They will sit down and talk and it WON'T be Champ deciding if he wants to stay, it will be Gibbs deciding IF HE STAYS!

The problem with Smoot and "the rest of the guys," is that they are very small and will be taken advantage of. Dallas has very good wide outs that we will have to contend with. Not to mention the nightmare scenario: TO to Philly. They have the money...and thus Champ will be VERY hard to replace.

Well, if Champ is so great, then teams will surely sign him after we franchise him right? If Champ is the the top db, then teams will surely give up 2 firsts for him.

Nah, not with this year's CB free agent market. I doubt we'll get two. We could probably get one, though. Detroit's likely, as are Pitt and Atlanta.

If Champ leaves then I say we take Sean Taylor. We'll see how much T.O. likes to get unloaded on like Alvin Walton used to do!!!!

A lot will depend on what Gregg Williams wants. You have to remember that Williams runs a version of the old Buddy Ryan 46 defense that features a ton of blitzes. You have to have good cornerbacks or the system won't work at all. In fact, Williams would have to junk it and do something else, at least until he got another elite cornerback in here. My guess is that Williams will make a strong push to keep Bailey around. Champ does not get a lot of love from Redskins fans, but he's generally regarded around the league as the top cornerback in the NFL.
