Champ is the best CB in the NFL. If we had any DL at all to rush the QB everybody would see that. But if we can get a first and a second or a first and a first round draft pick i say let him go. Think of what we could do with those picks guys. Trade down and load up on picks. Everybody knows the NFL draft is deep. Teams find great players in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounds all the time.

My guess is that Williams will make a strong push to keep Bailey around. Champ does not get a lot of love from Redskins fans, but he's generally regarded around the league as the top cornerback in the NFL.

Exactly!!!!! BUT William's defense is built around a line that has BIG (300lbs +++) DT, and fast (and maybe too light) DE. Right now, he doesn't have much here in what he likes in a defensive line.

I couldn't agree more, maybe it was contract rejection thats rubbed everyone the wrong way. Champs an excellant all around corner and just think he would be hard to replace especially in the type of defense Greg Williams like to run.

He may be regarded as the best, but that did not translate into him playing like the best this year.

At any rate, as a soon to be franchise player, history suggests that he will most likely not have a contract signed, whether he wants to be in Washington or not, until the start of the season. He will not want to risk injury prior to signing. I predict he will not participate in any of the preseason games this fall. He will most likely be a "Duce Staley" signee.

Well, I think we can all agree that a radical restructuring of the defensive line is going to happen no matter what defense they play.

My uncle works at the washington post... got some inside info for everyone! It's being confirmed or they're trying to as we speak but supposedly Champ already has his agent on orders he wants to return as a redskin next season...

I think it's about time we return to glory!

Didn't want to start an new thread for this, but what about Smoot this year? Are we going to hear the trade rumors again? I hope not, if Champ does stay then I'm sure Gibbs/Willams will love the duo.

the more i think about this, i want champ to sign more and more....Champ is the best, u can't let go the JORDAN of cornerbacks....i mean just give him a good contract where we can both be happy and then possibly get one or two free agents that can help on the D LINE and the rest up to the draft....we should be fine, plus well have money cutting those players we mentioned in the other thread!

I doubt we'll hear the trade rumors again on Smoot. He did a great job this year playing through a tough injury.
