Default HS Football

Son's school played their first game last night. Son was not supposed to play as a 1st year Varsity player, but then went in as LT after the first series.

(PS: His 16th b-day is today, so technically he was a 15 year old varsity player lol!)

Played the rest of the night and handled himself extremely well, the team won a slugfest 6-0 against a team that beat them twice last year, including 0-42 in a playoff game.

The coaches were hugging each other, glad my kid got to be a part of it!

Anyone else got a kid playing HS football?

The H.S. team from the city near me, Prattville, hosted Don Brosco Prep from New Jersey last night. (P'ville lost barely) The game was on ESPNU, which I don't get, unfortunately. I'm stunned that H.S. football has taken it to the next level. The visitors chartered an airplane to get here. Man...

That's crazy! A private plane charter? I can see that from a Texas team but NJ?

It was a big Jet Blue airliner. I'll bet ESPN paid for it. If not, the booster club is pretty generous. lol.

2 kids from our area made the US Army All American Bowl team that will be on National TV.

My son had to go up against both of them too! (We did not fair well with either team lol!) Pretty cool from such a small area to have 2 kids picked for a National team.

So...not that anyone reads anything in here, but wanted to share.

My son's HS team was 6-4 on the season but still made it to the playoffs, they won the first game, and then the 2nd, to become the 2A West Champions. They ended up losing a fierce battle in the last playoff game however, ending their Cinderella season.

Also, the 1A, 3A & 4A teams all went to the State Semi-Finals too. The 1A & 3A teams made it to States, both winning the Championships and capping off perfect seasons!

Was a very good year for HS football in Frederick County Maryland!!!

Congrats to your son's team and your community's teams, Lorri!

I just wanted to give a shout out to two teams, in my neck of the woods, that are competing for State Championships this weekend, Stone Bridge Bulldogs and Broad Run Spartans. Amazing that these two schools are less than 3 miles apart and both are within a 15 minute jog to Redskins Park.
