Interesting. lol. I basically take the opposite approach. I have my scouts in the most populated regions...with my assumption that those areas have more local/grassroots efforts to produce better players. I'm probably taking this too literally, right?
I have a scout for Keeper, a scout for midfield and a scout for forward. I may just switch them all to midfield and hope for an influx of PM trainees. Right now, I'm so spread out in my talent its a chore trying to prioritize what training to do and when.
BTW - I just renewed my 12-month subscription to Supporter. Well worth the money!

That is actually a very good strategy. The only problem for me is that the economic update is Saturday morning at 2:00AM. lol

Ouch. But I will bet there are some die-hards awake then to make the pulls...
I just pulled this guy after he hit excellent. On the TL for 300k.

somehow people are tracking. there's a YA rapid reaction force that puts everyone participating in certain regions looking for the super studs. it's up in the forum. i'm considering jumping in on it.

I might think about it, but as I'm officially coasting this season, I haven't been able to get motivated for much. I actually forgot to set my friendly line up this week and lost my starting forward, but I don't think it will hurt my chances to stay up, so I'm not too hurt over it.
I haven't moved my scouts in a long time, and my YA talent seems to come in cycles. I have some talented kids right now and I had a gob of them when Dunn was coming through. and I had another group when the YA first came out, but that group was relatively weaker as they tweaked the system. It's not the best system, but I like that rejected players stay in the pool. During one of the dry times, I took a player who had been rejected by three teams. I did it out of pity mostly. Kids have feelings.

Pretty stoked that I finally found a guy with my last name on transfers. MAX STOUT. The first name is close enough. (Max instead of Mark) He is a passable keeper from Switzerland and will become my back up if I win the bid. Shouldn't be too hard since there are a million passable keepers on transfer.

I was browsing around hattrick and found this manager (9774688).
He is a fan of Inter, Chelsea, Barca and Bayern...as well as some Hungarian team I've never heard of. Talk about jumping on the bandwagon, huh?

Out of sheer boredom with this game, I'm selling off all my players at a starting price of zero. I don't know I'm going to continue playing, but I'll have plenty of cash if I do.

It got you too I see. I've been mulling it, but haven't pulled the trigger. I can't imagine my team can make it too much higher than right now, and I'm kind of aimless at the moment. I'm hoping the meta-game changes they hinted at will be big, so I'm holding off for those, but I realized it's been 4.5 years since I started (June 2005), so I'm a bigger loser than I remember.
Maybe, if we all killed off our teams one person could get into a VI, and invite others to join the series (if they still allow that) and we could run an hr series for a bit. That might be pretty enjoyable.

That actually makes three of us.
I missed out on the title by one point last year in my first year in division 5, which was great. I'm going to give it one more shot this year, then I will probably sell a bunch of guys and see if I want to start over or just call it a career. If I do call it a career, I gotta say, it's been great, since I started out way back in division 9 and worked my way up 5 divisions, and came real close to making it 6. But even if I do win this year, these is simply no way I will be able to hang around in division 4, because it is simply brutal, and you need to be able to constantly work the market to make cash, which I have no intention of doing.

My problem is that I've been playing other browser games(kapilands, Cybernations) that are more fun than HT. HT was a good idea, but they didn't take the next step with it and make it more involved.

Which is, unfortunately, part of their MO. And, part of the reason I'm hooked on Football Manager 2010.

Well, this one last shot has started out pretty damn well. After 8 games, I am 8-0-0 with a 10 point lead over the second place team. So barring some kind of complete collapse in these last 6 games, I hope to be able to win and promote directly. After that, we'll see.

Nice! I logged in last week to see that I could still earn a qualifier if I decided to buy players for my team. It's tempting, and I wish I had held on to a couple of players before I dumped the squad, but I have $32 million in the bank if I do decide to build it back (plus Dunn).
But mostly I was checking on some youth players I wanted to get out of the academy. one is about 16.60 and has solid scoring/inadequate passing. scoring has some sublevels it could move up, but he has caps of inad winger and passable pm that he could earn. No spec, which probably keeps him from u20 contention, but he'll be a special player if I can sell him off to the right team.
