The Walking Dead
Anybody watch this new series on AMC about life in a zombie infested world? What are your thoughts about the show?

Dolla Bill and I have been discussing it off forum, but its a fantastic show. The 2nd episode was slow, but they've rebounded from it was a bunch of strong episodes. The zombie attack in the 4th episode was very intense and the scene between the sisters in the 5th was amazing.

Do they have replays or can you watch earlier episodes OnDemand?

You can watch the first episode here. They rest of the episodes should be On-demand and AMC shows the hell out of the series now since the ratings are so high. Just make it through that 2nd episode and keep going. The 4th episode might be one of the most brutally intense episodes of TV in a long time.

AMC is on fire. This is the third series that everyone is raving about.

I was a big fan of Rubicon also(minus the final episode) which was a good old-fashioned low tech spy thriller(much in the vein of Three Days of the Condor), but the ratings were terrible.

I agree with you. I didn't think the 2nd episode was that bad, but it definitely took off from there. That zombie attack was surprising. Had me wondering how they made it out there undetected since they had trip wires and cans to alarm them if a walker made it to their camp. Unfortunately, I read somewhere that they only did 6 episodes initially so they will be going on hiatus soon.

That won't do much unless you seal up the cans and put small rocks in them. If anything, episode 4 should have taught them about static defense lines. Hell, even just a deep ditch around half the camp would do since the zombies would struggle with it.

Agree on Walking Dead, which is great, and also on Rubicon...did they cancel it?

I keep asking myself why the hell they camp out in the woods. Wasn't there an isolated building like a gas station on the highway or something where they could have stayed?

On the AMC website, some have suggested that Merle led the walkers to the camp

Yeah, the ratings were terrible(5% of the ratings of Walking Dead). I loved the first 12 episodes of Rubicon, but the finale was just terrible, especially with the non-committal ending.

I'd like to see some proof of that. Merle was essentially cut out of the show, Rooker was listed in 5 episodes but hasn't been in the series since ep 3.

Water from the quarry, food in the woods and the zombies seem to congregate in city/towns.

Well, that and the cancellation mean I wasted a whole lotta time...lol...
Re:Walking Dead, I read that Merle wasn't actually in the original comic book series. Has anybody read the comic book?

The first 12 episodes were worth the time imo.

Dolla Bill is a big fan of it. Basically, they've changed the entire plot. In the books, Shane turns out to have been infected(and Rick kills him), Merle doesn't exist and they go north to DC instead of hanging around Atlanta. Also Rick is the one who loses his hand.

Well, they have vehicles to move around in so getting to the quarry shouldn't be a huge problem, an an isolated building (which is why I was thinking of a gas station) wouldn't attract zombies...and it sure beats the hell out of getting half the camp eaten after 4 episodes...
