Default MMA thread

Surely there is a thread discussing the awesomeness that is mixed martial arts...I however can not find it!

Anyone on here a MMA fans? Feel free to discuss fight cards, event rumors, etc.

I love MMA. I used to love boxing but lets face it watching a lightweight hit some guy 1000 times on compubox numbers and seeing no one hit the canvas has put me to ZZZZZ. Thankfully the UFC has awoken me to what boxing used to be. FIGHTING!

So pumped to the Bones Jones Vs Evans!

So what say you fight fans?

I enjoy the sport, but I'm only able to catch a fight about once or twice a year. In the pecking order of the sports I watch, MMA is towards the bottom and not a huge priority. I think I'll get more involved once more top-billed fights get broadcast on national primetime TV. The PPVs are just too expensive.

That being said, I have enjoyed watching MTV's Caged show. Its about a group of up-and-coming cage fighters from Louisianna. Decent storylines about young adults putting all of their career aspirations into becoming the next MMA star.

That sounds great! I think I will have to set my DVR to it. I am lucky enough to live in a Metroplex and I agree the PPV's are expensive. I only purchase about 1 or 2 major bouts a year, However BWW, Hooters and many other establisments now show these regularly. So for a few beers and wings that I would probably buy anyway I can watch some amazing fights and the atmosphere is always rocking usually leave well fed and happy for about 25 bucks.

Jones vs Evans will be good, like Evans, but Jones is something spectacular. My money's on him vs just about anyone in his class.

Overeem had a stellar debut too. Can't wait to see him up against Dos Santos.

I don't go out of my way for most fights, and don't watch the Ultimate Fighter show, but I always buy or go somewhere for a Jones or Anderson Silva fight. GSP rocks, technically sound, huge for his class, but not as exciting a fighter and dammit if he's always wearing the spandex underwear.

Looking at taking MMA classes around Sterling when my schedule and funds permit. It's one of the best workouts you'll ever get, and I miss hitting and getting hit. Too bad my axe kick is only like 4' high right now.

I usually catch every PPV either online, or a group of friends head out to Buffalo Wild Wings. Quick note, BWW's has a contract with UFC to broadcast every PPV. Its a pretty inexpensive way to catch the PPVs.

Feel like this Saturday is the first UFC pay per view in forever....SO flipping pumped!!!!

Evans is just an annoying little dude. Rubs me wrong hes so dang cocky. I think Bones Jones is going to handle him but I really think the training partner/wrestling info Evans has will make this closer then I like it. I am excited to see what Bones looks like when he is pissed, he always looks so even tempered but I think he explodes in this one. Hopefully that doesnt lead to him slipping up!

I also hope the familiarity of the two fighters doesnt lead to one of those 5 round dancing contest. Thoughts? Anyone else pumped? Who you got winning?
