Also, I am guessing that Shanahan will keep 3 QBs (RG, Rex, Cousins) this season instead of 2--that should mean one less roster spot for RB-FB.

If Morris is as good a blocker as he claims to be, he might just stick. I saw a great Senior Bowl picture of him driving inside the pads and standing up Coples. He claims to take special pride in protecting the QB and blocking. Sure, it's the type of "player speak" you use to differentiate yourself, but if he's really good at it, he could be a keeper.

I do appreciate a RB who can pass-protect--something Portis was superb at. So, if Morris can pass block and can catch passes, perhaps there is a spot for him on the roster as a 3rd down back.

or, if we only carry 1 FB, having a guy who can fill in at either spot, and play great ST's could get him a spot..
it took me a while to think of who he reminds me a little of .. Stump Mitchell, the great RB for the Cards during their heyday.. Stump started as an end of roster player and worked himself up to being one of the better RB's in the NFL until he wrecked his knee..

I just saw phillip thomas on espn,a 2012 graduate from syracuse.somebody stole his identity around the draft, this guy(the fake phillip thomas) allegedly contacted the redskins about a contract while the real one was trying out with the eagles.to make a long story short,i'm glad we did'nt sign him cause he talks and acted like a real idiot today on espn's outside the lines.said you know every other word, just seemed like a space cadet.

Hightower's re-signing with the Skins will make it even tougher for Morris to stick. While I would not have picked him, I am open-minded. Shanahan must have seen something about this kid that he really liked.

If he plays well, but doesn't make the roster, I wouldn't mind seeing him on the practice squad. Didn't we activate Royster off the practice squad last year?

I certainly would not have a problem with Morris on the practice squad. For that matter, I hope I am wrong about him and he makes the 53-roster and turns out to be another Terrel Davis.
