It's only one game, but Torres is looking pretty lively.

Had to do something after the Italy game.
As for Spurs, strong feelings it will be Moyes or AVB who get the job. I would be cool with either.
AVB and Chelsea were not a good match. Spurs and Porto play a very similar style and have the same mix of youth and experience. He was excellent with Porto, I think he could be very good at Spurs. There are no Drogbas, Lampards or Terrys at Spurs. Remember they saw of Scolari in exactly the same way as AVB.
Moyes would be a safe choice and it would be interesting to see how he moulds the team. You have to remember he has had zero money to spend and has developed a lot of young players over the years.

The issue with AVB is that he is as stubborn as they come and he has terrible communication skills with his team. The Chelsea players never once felt a connection with him or trusted him. It will be interesting to see if he will change things around this time.

He is looking much better, although it has been quite a long slump the past two seasons. I'm not convinced he is matching his best Liverpool form but you can see much more confidence and the power is back.
I wonder how his confidence will hold up with Chelsea adding so many scoring threats this offseason...

Agreed on AVB. Really bad choice for Chelsea. For Moyes, I know he gets the money thing on his side, but in ten years, why hasn't he gone anywhere above Everton? I think he's the safe pick. A lot like if Levy is trying to find a prom date.

I think Chelsea have to move him. He won't play unless he regains his Liverpool form. I could also see him turning in a Arshavinesque Euro a la 2008 and costing someone a bunch of money they'll never get back.

Let's not forget he was up against a very poor Oirish defence.

Very poor, but at least he looked to shoot. I've seen a lot of center halves look more comfortable on the ball than him recently.

He was not like that at Porto and they won a treble. You have to understand his remit was to revolutionise the squad and move it forward. He met nothing but resistance from the get go. The players I mentioned never bought in because that meant giving up their power base. DiMatteo let the lunatics run the asylum and they got very lucky. We will see how he gets on sans Drogba, dealing with the egos of Hazard and Hulk, etc. It has the potential to be brilliant or a complete train wreck.

Well, our best midfielder is doing better playing defense than two of your defenders...
Other than DeRossi, I don't think we have anyone else playing defense at the moment, since we didn't pick up Kjaer's option (yet).

I'd rate Bonucci as the best defender on the team so far. And DDR is doing so well at that CB hybrid that he's moving out of that spot lol(now they're mixed reports about any change).

stekelenburg has been awful for the Dutch, Mexes is still close enough to his roma career: he's been awful also.

Three observations I have mostly learned from Euro2012 this weekend.
1) John Terry needs putting down*. For a nation brought up on the bravery of Terry Butcher, seeing Terry back off 250 yards every time Ibrahimovic picked up the ball was embarrassing. A liability.
2) Glad the Russians are out. Especially after bribing Sepp Blatter and his cronies to win the 2018 World Cup. Would have loved to have the look on Abramovic's face last night.
3) Can the Russians take England Supporter's Band with them and drop them off in a gulag somewhere in Siberia. It is bad enough having to watch England, but having that sodding band pipe up with the Great Escape, Rule Britannia and the Self Preservation Society every two minutes seriously pisses me off.
3 and a bit) Ibrahimovic giving it large to Joe Hart after Sweden's second. Joe, I hope you wished him well for the tournament after the game...
3 and a bit more) Ashley Young. Actually no. Try looking up. Just try it once. Please.
*TBH, this was something I was aware of before the weekend.

Juventus canceled their US tour because Napoli demanded that they play the Italian Super Cup in China 2 weeks after the last US tour match. Needless to say, I'm rather pissed about this and won't be lifting much of a finger to follow Juve for the foreseeable future.
