wouldnt bother me one bit if Brown is done for the season because he was already done in my mind. if it takes 3-4 years to recover from a hip injury then you are done. toast. dont know if there is a cap charge or savings for cutting him now, but i dont care if we have to put him on IR and pay him then cut him next year. if he was able to play he wouldnt be able to practice. its time to move on.

Lets remember this. Our oline was run blocking pretty well last year with hurt at guard and polumbus at right tackle, and smith at left tackle as well. take out smith and put in trent williams and thats an upgrade. Our run game came on late last year and our young backs had some big games with a line missing three starters. we only gave up 10 sacks in our last 6 games versus some pretty good pass rushers and defenses, thats not too bad really. but these guys have some chemistry going back to last season. plus lichtenstiger wont be out all year either

Given the woes at RT, this is very encouraging to read from John Keim:

Quote:
4. The most impressive player offensively has been, without a doubt, left tackle Trent Williams. He might be having the best camp of anyone for that matter. Brian Orakpo has gotten him on occasion, but nobody else has come close to beating him. When Ryan Kerrigan goes against him, it’s a clear win for Williams. In the one-on-ones Tuesday, he stopped Orakpo who tried to go upfield and cut back inside. He stopped Kerrigan who went wide. Then he whipped Markus White, who tried to lull him with a stutter step. But Williams was patient, let White reveal his intentions and then reacted. Oh, and he pushed him to the ground at the end. Beast. Williams’ lower half is so sound and his feet so good that he can compensate for mistakes.

I remember when he was a rookie how he could get himself out of bad spots because of his athleticism. The difference now? So far I haven’t seen him get in many bad situations. That’s a testament to his growth as a player.

Also, the difference now? He's not high. (hopefully)

Heres a good note:

Quote:
—Stop me if you’ve heard this—the bad Rex then put on the yellow No. 8 jersey. He didn’t see Kevin Barnes as he threw an out pattern and the cornerback easily grabbed the ball and sailed into the end zone

Rich Campbell is saying the same thing.

LT Trent Williams was unflappable in one-on-one drills against OLBs Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan. It’s probably accurate to say he’s the best player in camp right now.

Seems like if the young man is able to avoid the controlled substances he could be poised for a big-time season. Let's hope the suspension ends up being a turning point/wake-up call in a HOF career.

Williams can focus now that he's not getting stoned. Who'd have thunk it?

good to hear about Trent but I am alittle leery about bad character guys not handiling success. Can he maintain his focus is the big key he's used to going against Rak and crew we'll see what he does against other guys.

And I'm a little leery of calling a 24-year old who has made a few suspect decisions a "bad character guy."

he's a pro not a 24 yr old baby. He's been paid a sick amount of money knows weed is illegal and has generally underperformed on the field. His character is def questionable. so yeah to me a bad character guy.

suspect decisions. LOL thats what you are calling that now. ok ....its stupid.

and I hope he has a pro bowl season.

Trent Williams turned in some great performances before he was caught with pot, so I don't know how much we can read into Williams playing well as an indication of what we already knew about his talent level.
