On the positive side, He's generally changed the mindset of the organization. The team is now generally populated with reasonable intelligent, (Fred Davis excepted) highly motivated, competitive players, who have the knowledge that they actually have to win there job over other talented players.
Are there still holes? No doubt, but there are a lot less holes ( and A-holes) then there was two years ago and I'm encouraged by the overall direction of the team. I think if the skill that has been shown in the last two drafts and free agency periods continues the Redskins will be a serious team to be dealt with in 2013 and beyond.
People have scoffed at me when I said that Mara and the Giants were worried about the Redskins. I still believe that is true. Considering the 36 million dollar cap hit, it will just take a year or two longer to be at least serious competition for the Giants.
I'm at mildly approve, only because the results that I expect over the next two years, have yet to happen. I envision things only getting better for several years.

I, too, thought at the time McNabb and Fat Albert could have fetched more in trades if Shanahan had handled the situations somewhat quieter. But, looking back, I am not that sure. I think other GMs were already aware how far those two had slid.
As for Fred Davis, I actually feel positive about him. I think the suspension will "scare him straight". I also feel optimistic about the conversion of Paul to TE. I can visualize the Redskins version of "Gronk-Hernandez" in the coming seasons.
I don't think Mara fears the Skins yet. But, hopefully starting in 2013 he will.
