Do the fans believe Gibbs is playoff bound?
In Gibbs i trust
The playoff formula for normal year is go 10-6 win a wildcard berth
You must go 6-2 at home and 4-4 on the road
You must split(3-3) your division games
The east is improved and will be competitive this year
The Eagles should be the team to beat in the NFC Kearse will not improve that pathetic run d
The Cowgirls had the #1 defense with a weak DL has already improved from last season will it be enough to overcome expectations?
The Giants were hyped up last yr but had a playoff hangover and injuries
the talent is there to win if O Line is rebuilted and DL has good yr
The Redskins were a mess last year but still did not address DL issues
stopping the run is key on D, scoring clutch pts and ball control key on O
Their is enough talent to go to the playoff
64 million $$$ ??????
Will skins be a playoff team regardless of future draftees or FA's???

OF COURSE THEY ARE ...
last season the Spurrier Redskins lost 5 games by a field goal, or less ... and a 6th game by 4 points. Keep this in mind while you consider the scoreboard implications of a team that habitually penalized itself out of field goal range and into punting situations ... keep this in mind while you consider the FACT that SS boasted that he never game plans the opposition and relies on his Wunder-Scheme to overcome all opponents ... keep this in mind while you remember that the #1 and #2 running backs both missed a significant number of snaps with injuries as did the #1 QB, #1 LT ... and finally keep this in mind while you consider the fact that the Skins now possess the most potent RB in the NFL, have increased their starting QB's rating by at least 10 points and have added a pro-bowl pass rushing OLB to complement their existing pro-bowl pass rushing OLB, dumped a has-been designated pass-rushing DE who took the entire season to rack-up 3 sacks ... true we lost a great CB ... but remember that he didn't have a great season last year and was hurt from day 1
Last years Redskins could have EASILY been 10 - 6 just based on the erasure of the self-defeating sloppiness and 5 field goals (not a stretch given Hall) on what certainly was at least 15 lost FG opportunities due to STUPID penalties. I won't even argue about the 4 point loss ...
Nothing but improvements this season ... only question is CB and Springs is at least above average ... and Champ was at best above average last season ...
Play-offs?
Hell yes!

It's interesting to note that Gibbs took us to the playoffs 8 of the 12 years he was here. In 2 of the 4 years that we didn't make it, we had a 10-6 record!
Anyway, here's how I look at it. Gibbs will have the team very well prepared for each opponent. No more playing to the level of the competition. The games we should win, we will. That includes Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, San Fran and the Giants at home. That's 6 wins. The remianing 10 games, I would think we have a 50/50 chance of winning. That's 5 more wins. Subtract 1 win for being his first season back. I'd say 10-6 is not unreasonable to assume.

hell yeah we are playoff bound. like brokenstriker said, we lost alot of close games. now with portis and a good oline scheme, we will be able to run the ball and kill the clock. a more experienced qb means he wont crack under pressure, not to mention there wil be less pressure. the dline may not be strong, but it is still much improved. faster linebackers are a plus too. im thinking we do have the ability to win the NFC east, but the eagles may be too good. i think the nfc playoff teams will be green bay, carolina, rams, eagles, redskins, seahawks

I have predicted 10-6 the last several years, and have obviously been wrong, but I would be happy with 9-7.

Honestly, yeah I think we're in the playoffs. Anyone who doesn't say so is wary after the last 4 years of dissapointments. Neither Spurrier nor Marty the coach, I don't see a slew of aging Gators hnging around, the offense is as good as it's been in 5 years (back when we were losing to Dallas 41-35 in overtime. God I hated that game. Up 3 TD's in the fourth, and the defense can't...ahhhhhhh), we've got a guy who can run the ball, 2 guys who can throw the ball, a nice set who can catch the ball, an o-line ready to get things right (well at least I hope Bugel can get something out of them), a proper set of linebackers, a decent secondary, and a subpar d-line, but that's the one chink in the armor. Even with that one chink, we've got a defensive coordinator who knows how to coach a defense, and there's still the draft baby. Right now this team (at least in my eyes) is probably around 10th to 5th in offense, and 20th to 15th in defense. Oh and just one minor note, we've got some old guy back coaching for us. Uh, this is driving me nuts, what's his name? Jim maybe? Oh well, even without him we're good.

I think even Gibbs needs a little bit of time to get the team on track. He has said it himself, you don't take a 5-11 team and make it beastly overnight.
I give it 8-8 or 9-7 with a wild card IF we're really lucky
