Jody Foldesy, of the Washington Times, reports Washington Redskins LB LaVar Arrington was fined $5,000 by the NFL for grabbing the facemask of New York Giants RB Tiki Barber in Week 2. Arrington was officially fined for unnecessary roughness.

Jody Foldesy, of the Washington Times, reports Washington Redskins LB Clifton Smith (elbow) filed an injury grievance against the team last week, according to NFL Players Association spokesman Carl Francis. Smith was released by the Redskins in Week 1 and signed to the practice squad the next day. Shortly afterward, he was placed on injured reserve and underwent elbow surgery. Injured players cannot be released without agreeing to an injury settlement.

The Arrington news is old news. But I was unaware that C. Smith filing this grievance.

I still can't believe that Arrington was fined for that hit. I know we've talked about this before. But he didn't grab it intentionally and he immediately let go....
