05 draft idea
1st round- david pollack, marcus spears, dt from wisconsin, or dt from oregon
(each one of these guys could step right in and start, period, no questions asked, and are a pretty safe pick
3rd- possibly o-line, id rather see another DL pick though, i feel we could fill a void on o-line through free agency
4th- cb, someone we can use in the nickle or on special teams, hopefully williams sticks around so are defense remains stellar
5th- ss, maybe we find a gem to complement our superstar problem child at safety
6th and 7th- best available

my ideal draft...
1st-Mathias Kiuwianka, DE-Boston College
3rd-Chris Canty, DE-University of Virginia
4th-Michael Huff, SS/CB-Texas University
5th-Sam Mayes, OG-Oklahoma State (6'7, 350)
6th-Brad Smith, QB-Missouri University
7th-John Dunn, OT-Virginia Tech (6'7, 343)
in my draft we get two first round pass rushers in kiuwianka and canty(slips due to knee injury), a playmaking backup saftey to taylor in the 4th, an electrifying quarterback who can run, throw and isnt afraid to take a hit(problem is inaccuracy), and finally two monsters on the offensive line with both being about 6'7, 345

think we could get a second for dockery? if so we might not have to trade down because if we pick up brown then dockery is trade bait

I don't think that they will trade Dockery they seem to really like him.
The reason I say we go o-line in the 1st is for 2 reasons.
1. The d-lien is playing great and why would we want to mess around with that add the risk of picking a d-line in the 1st and i think we can get by on 2nd rd picks.
2. The o-line is what a Gibbs team is built on it all starts with the o-line so improving the line in any way should be jumped at. The line can look like this LT: Samuels, LG: Dockery, C: Thomas, RG: Brown, RT: Jansen/Brown
This pick does two things it protects us in case Jansen is not ready to go by next year. It also protects us in negotiiations with Samuels and Thomas in the future {06] when their cap numbers get bigger.

I don't think that we need a d-linemen to step in and start, we need a d-linemen to step in and be a young back up and a future starter. I think we can wait till the 2nd and 3rd to get some young depth on the d-line. Why mess with what is working.

It would be a dominat o-lie and it would be dominat for a number of years. As soon as Samuels or Thomas' sontracts get to big or someone gets released we aren't scrambling to find a replacement we will have drafted 1.

I look at those guys as quality back ups. I would like us to draft a road grading guard because that is what this team should be built on big mean o-linemen.
At the beginning of the season I would have said for sure draft a d-linemen but with the way these guys have been playing it is no longer a must draft.

As far as QB is concerned, I don't stay up to date on the college front. Work kind of prevents me. I was wondering if there were any scrambling kind of running backs, in the mold of a Vick, McNabb, or Culpepper this season. I do hear alot of Randall from VT, very high completion percentage, but has the legs to do it himself. I was just curious if someone like this was chosen in the later rounds, how would the offense change to suit him? Just like to throw an idea like that around.

I know Brad Smith from Missouri is a Vick tpe passer. I think the story of this years QB are big strong armed pocket passers.

Ahhh....you mean, Gibbs' type of QB. I was just wondering if there was actually any chance that someone like that would come to the skins. Would make for an interesting combination. Who would you defend? Portis, Coles, or the running type of QB?
