You can scratch Albert Johnson off the list and insert Michael Bates as the Jets released Johnson and signed Bates. Apparently good returns weren't the only thing the Jets wanted out of Johnson, they wanted him to be an all-around STer like Morton was for us and like bates has been in his career.

That's really not surprising. Johnson didn't look impressive at all. I knew you were over selling him at first. Bates is an improvement, but no solution. A Morton only comes around once every 4 or 5 years or so. It will touhg replacing him.

I know it's early, but this week will make or break the Jets this season. They NEED this win.

I think Albert would have been among the league leaders had he stayed here, he's not as explsive as Morton but he outplayed him last Thursday Night. As for Bates, if he's healthy he's one of the best in the game but we'll find out soon enough if he is healthy and if he can still play like he used to.

he USED to be one of the best in the game when he was with Carolina. They let him go when he was slipping, and it was evident he was slipping since he didn't do much for the Skins in 2001. If he was THAT special, some team would have kept him even through the injury. But I have a suspicion with that Ankle injury and the fact he's about to turn 34, that there is barely a pep left in his step.
Sad part is, I really like the guy. He's a gutsy ,gritty player. (and I think an upgrade from Johnson.) He will help your special teams withut a doubt...just not maybe KR.
