It's gonna be Grossman, no doubt.

Close...His QB rating was 24th out of 34 rated. I'm pretty comfortable he iwould rank in the top half of all back up quarterbacks. For what he is now and what he's getting paid, I have no problem with him being around until Cousins is up to speed.

What is interesting is some of the QB's who were rated below him.

I honestly think that I can't think of 10 backups I would rather have Rex over.

The Corpse of Carson Palmer over Eli, Flacco, Dalton and Alex Smith. Hold on, I need 30 minutes to laugh at this metric lol.

Well, Im not sure he wouldnt cost us the playoff spot were he to have to take the reigns. If the D was stout and the run game was productive maybe he could get us in, but I think he's a sub .500 starter, meaning we better have a pretty good record prior to him taking over.

* Yep, I know - there's no point driving 50 yards downfield if you follow it up with a boneheaded pick...
Grossman would need the perfect supporting cast to have any chance at offsetting his mistakes and winning with an offense thats still developing. RG3, to me, offers so much more. Even if he turns the ball over like a rookie the things he can do with his arm and his legs will offset the majority of it. Grossmans knowledge isnt worth as much as RG3's natural athletic ability imo.

who the number 2 will be will be affected by how strongly RGIII is playing at the start of the season.

if RGIII looks fully in command and very strong, Rex might get a game or 2 as the backup, but will eventually get replaced by Cousins.

if RGIII looks like a typical rookie and has some shaky games, it is likely that RGIII will be backup most of the year..

Everyone has a few shaky games. For RGIII to be backup most of the year, he would have to look completely confused and lost on the field for several games. Based upon what I am hearing and seeing, I think this scenario is highly unlikely. He seems to be developing into a stronger and more confident quarterback with each day of practice.

sorry my post was misunderstood..RGIII will start all year, even if he has to take his lumps.. but if he looks shaky some of the time,Rex will stay as backup IN CASE RGIII gets hurt

I think that Shanahan and son got burned in the press and by the fans for their "coachspeak" support of Grossman and Beck.

I went on a limb early and said we'd trade up for RG3. I'm going with the minority and saying that Cousins will win a spot AS THE #2 by the start of the season - mid-season. Grossman is gone next year for sure. He lost more games for us than he won. So why not go with the future, NOW?

Turning over the ball was one of Gibb's #1 crimes. We can not have someone like that even as #2 and expect to win.

If Grossman walks on the field, not only will the entire hR fan base start going into uncontrolled dry heaves, but he will get a massive booing in FEDEX. The fans love RG3 and will happily suffer through a game or two of Cousins learning the ropes (if RG 3 is out) but Rex is just another in a very long line of journeyman QB's playing out his last games as a Redskin.

I just checked again with NFL.com and they list Rexasaurus as 28 out of 34 for the regular season. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong? QB rating of 72.4 and that's in the bottom 18%. The rookies were mostly below him.

BL - he suxx and I will be happy when he leaves. Nothing personal, no Rex hate. He's holding the team back. RG3 will open up the defense simply because of his lightning speed.

I had just done an internet search on NFL QB ratings and the first thing that popped up was the "new" system ESPN rating. I actually tend to agree that 28th is more like it. That being said, I certainly would go with a healthy Griffin no matter what. The only thing I still believe is that Rex has some value at least through training camp and possibly through part of the season. Some folks don't think so...I can see their point. Under any senario, I don't see Rex around next year.

And even marginal QBs done QUIT on their teams like a complete &^%.

Grossman is more hated (for me) than Shuler.

IMO Rex will be the backup to start the season and Cousins will overtake him some time after game 8.

I think Cousins starts the season as the #2.

Rex apparently is still indecisive in camp. Threw a pick 6 to Minnifield yesterday (who is having a terrific camp).

Rex isn't indecisive, he throws a pick all the time...that's just another day at the office for him.
