I'm guessing the Jets will try to give him a work-out. When he retires, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he isn't somehow involved in radio or TV broadcasting at the local or national level.

Exactly. Shanahan is clueless. It is utterly abhorrent that shanny pulls his coach speak crap on this and tries to spin it like he did the right thing for cooley.

Captures how I feel about it exactly. And the turn of the knife is seemingly rewarding a guy who flunked multiple drug tests with Cooley's job.

Yes, and Vontae Davis went for a 2nd and a conditional 6th. It's arguable that the Colt's overpaid for him, but it goes to show the premium CB have on the market... even young fledgling ones like Barnes apparently. If Cooley made a few notable plays in preseason we'd have more leverage, but he hasn't looked right at all this year.

Then just come out and say: "we felt it was time to move on from Cooley." Or cut him back in April when Shanny said he was healthy and draft a replacement(they were looking at TEs reportedly).

They won't talk about Cooley declining in the media because it hurts his appeal to other teams. Pretty common practice, especially with such a beloved player. I doubt Shanny knew how Cooley would pan out back in April. Cooley came in 15lbs lighter and looking slimmer than ever so he looked fine at that point. Unfortunately, he just didn't do enough in training camp or preseason.

Other teams will know if Cooley is done or not shortly after bringing him for a tryout. And they haven't hesitated to rip aging players in the past. Shanny's been gushing today about how Cooley can still play and that this was a mutual decision. Both of which sound like total crap. Cooley deserves better. The Fans deserve better.

I doubt your doubt lol. If Cooley is done, its not because he can't figure out the playbook, its because he's physically done. They would(or should) have seen that back in April.

I really like Brian Kehl. I hope this guy sticks on the team. He just has a knack to make plays.

The source always has to be considered, but the more articles like this I read, the better I like it.
