Sorry for the confusion. Yes, the article was referring to Rahem Morris the coach, but I was referring to Alfred Morris (the 6th round draft pick). I was just opining that the Skins took an unnecessary chance passing on Minnefield when I think the more prudent course of action would have been to draft him and then try to sign Alfred Morris as a FA.

As I see it, failure to acquire Alfred Morris would hardly have mattered, whereas losing a good CB prospect like Minnefield--when he could have been selected in a round as late as 6th--would have been a significant mistake by the front office.

I don't know if I am really criticizing the front office--especially since we ended up with Minnefield anyway. I was merely opining that I think the front office was fortunate to be able to sign Minnefield when it passed on him in the 6th round for Alfred Morris, who plays a position far less critical than CB. But, if AM turns out to be a good player, then my hats off to the front office.

that late in the draft, im taking the healthy guy over the injured guy almost every time, no matter position...

-Roster overhaul. Since Shanahan took over before the 2010 season, the Redskins have cut 150 players, and only one of those players -- San Francisco's Carlos Rogers -- is currently starting for another team.

On that I disagree. I think late rounds is precisely the place to gamble on an injured prospect, whose talent would otherwise have landed him much higher. If he doesn't regain his health, not much will be lost. On the flip side, a healthy late round pick is not likely to be as talented as an injured late round pick. With such a prospect, the ceiling is very limited.

Also, if you don't gamble on an injured prospect in the late rounds, when would you gamble on one? In an early round? That wouldn't make much sense since the cost is much higher there. Or, would you ever gamble at all on an injured prospect? If you don't, you will find it difficult to be able to "steal" a player in the draft.

It's ten days old, but I just saw it, and things are kinda slow around here anyway. Don't have a clue who this guy is, but I thought it was reasonably well written and he did a fine job of describing pretty much how I feel about the state of the pre 2012 Washington Redskins.

I think this is a very accurate analysis of the Shanahan era in Washington and where the Redskins are at today. That is why every fan should take a realistic stock of the team and discard all the delusional expectations. The Redskins are still rebuilding and there are some significant holes--particularly in the secondary. And, the NFC East will be a brutally tough division in 2012. Don't be disheartened if the win totals are not there this coming season, as long as RG is developing well and the team is headed in the right direction.
