rod gardner is probably our most marketable trade bait right now. i agree we might get a 2nd or 3rd rounder for him. maybe he gets packaged in a draft day deal with the ravens or marty.

the thing i dont understand is if he is so good from what some of y'all have been saying why doesnt anyone care. and now hes saying he was 65 to 70 % all of last year and led the team in tackles. unless he just wasnt working hard in the off season he should have been a lot better than 65-70. i was an athletic trainer at west virginia university and we were turning guys through ACL rehab at 4-6 months. i know it wasnt 100% but it was a whole hell of a lot better than 65-70.

they are both tremendous athletes (rod and trotter) but they exemplify the type of players we have been getting the past few years....all brawn no brains.

well he's huge, like 262 pounds, run stopper, so he's only going to be in there on 1st down, maybe first and 2nd (williams likes extra speed and db's on traditional passing downs). he's not gonna be a pass rush specialist, not a cover guy, not special teams...he has the 2nd highest cap charge on the team this year. and who knows whats underneath it all, something personal maybe, so...he's gone. and probably not for much in a trade, and it might even be better to just let him go after june 1st anyway. whatever pick we get for him will be an expensive one when you factor in the cap hit for trotter leaving before june 1.

exactly. there are more players besides taylor and winslow. maybe not as good, but you dont need superstars to win.

I think if we take Udeze or Harris or Smith or wilfork in a trade down they will:
A) Start in their position
B) Have an immediate positive impact on defense. Most likely with their speed and strength they will require a double team, greatly adding G. williams imaginative blitzing schemes. They will NOT reach their prime for another season or two.
C) Each has the POTENTIAL to be a franchise player who can stay with the team for at least 4-5 years.
D) They will be a lot less expensive then going on the DE/DT FA market
For all of you that think Udeze/Harris/Wilfork or Smith may be a bust - the same applies to Taylor. but at least with the trade down option we still get a second chance with a second rounder...

i agree with trade down and take Udeze/Harris/Wilfork or Smith. maybe even trade down twice (to 10, then to 20) and still get one of those guys. my minority opinion is this: with multiple picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, after trading down, we should take a guard or center. the top guards and centers will still be available there, and fiore, raymer, freidman, dockery and moore i'm not too sure about...
