Default Trading Down to New England

ESPN is reporting that Detroit will trade down their 6th overall to New England for their 2 first rounders, a second rounder, and a fourth. But only if Sean Taylor is still on the board. Taylor is a stud but we can beef up a number of positions if we were offered the same deal. What do you folks think about trading out of the 5 spot?

I think it is interesting that this was made news seeing how the general public is being led to believe that the Redskins are likely to take Taylor. The Pats are just putting themselves in the news b/c they are champions and proud of it.

I think that trade would be great. With one of the late first rounders we could pick up a DT. With the other first we could take The center from VT Grove. With the second we could pick up a TE or a S whatever postion has more value at the time. All that for Tayor!!!!!!! The skins got to jump all over that deal.

i am glad to hear someone mention the center grove from tech. i am almost scared to mention that we need a guard and a center for fear of getting linched. i know we need d-line, but the tops among guards and centers should still be around in the 2nd and 3rd. raymer (been hurt), moore (been hurt), freidman (smallish), fiore (might retire, knees arent healing up) and dockery (tub of goo got schooled bad last year, and buges was saying something like "he really needs to be in these drills and learning"...what was he doing? was he hurt?). i'm not thrilled with those guys, or the backups we have at tackle. right tackles are around in the 2nd and 3rd too. jon jansen, cory raymer and tre johnson were taken in the 2nd and 3rd. remember with brunell being a lefty, jansen is the blind side protection now. i dont even know who his backup is. i think brandon winey is samuels backup.

I think the Pats are hard to deal with. There is a reason why they have so many picks. They are known too not give up that much when they want to trade up. If i am the Redskins and on draft day N.E. gives us a call. My asking price is 2 first rounders and a 4th in this years draft. Or else take a hike.

Good thing ur not in FO. Pats, reportedly, are offering 2 first rounders, a second and a swap of their fourth for Lions' fourth. But............bottomline is that this draft is so exciting considering we have only one pick to begin with in the first 4 rounds.

Hold up last I heard the Pats Denied that Rumor. Also I doubt they would give up that much were talking Robert Kraft. Rember the last time we dealt with the Pats they made us into fools. Rember last year in order to get a 5th rounder in 2002 we had to give a 4th in 2003 and swap in the third round. We got burned in that deal.
