i think the skins are interested in gallery. i think there was some contact with the raiders, which is normal because like cerrato said there are probably many contacts between teams at this time. if i had the number one pick and it was not possible to trade down, i'd take gallery. if i had 1 and 2, i'd take gallery, then taylor.

This particular rumor:
1) Helps drive up the price for the #2 - making it even more expensive for the Giants to move up to #1
2) Raise the price for Gallery - who is someone the Browns [and Giant's] want.
3) Puts Samuels on the trade market, while allowing the team to DENY it; just in case we actually keep him
4) We help force the Giants to overspend, draft wise for Eli Manning
5) Shows the Browns they can't get Gallery - but Samuels is available (?).
Seems like a perfect Machiavellian draft day smoke screen to me!!

The article about Bethards says he NEVER mentioned an draft choice [that they later drafted] in media pre-draft briefings. In other words, he talked about players - then didn't take them.
Hmmmmm. the front office has talked about Taylor, Winslow, Harris, Vilma......
Leaving out:
Udeze
Smith
Wilfork
Just a theory.................

thats a good point, but i also heard beatherd and gibbs had some serious disagreements over draft picks and free agents. one that stands out in my mind was Gibbs wanting to trade mike olefant for earnest byner straight up and beathard insisted that olefant was going to be a star, he had great speed. gibbs got his way, the deal was done, beathard was mad, olefant disappeared. but the thought crossed my mind when i read about it (and this is where i bet you are right) that all of that whole story was a smoke screen to make olefant look like a star in the making so the skins could get byner...

Welcome to hR palladia, glad you could join us here.
I hope it is a smoke screen because this team could use Taylor, Harris, Udeze, Wilfolk more than a left tackle. I say keep Samuels and get Taylor

i think they will take taylor or trade down for harris and get that other safety
from purdue later (cant remember his name, 6'-2, 218, best 40 time and best wonderlick of all safeties at combine).

Yeah, I still think there is a very good possibility of trading Samuels and/or Gardner before the draft - no matter what they say to the media.
That way they can draft Taylor and a DL star..............

interesting theory. may be true may be not. but the skins rumors usually do not come out and be true. real, weird trades usually take place and then we find out about them after they are done.

Is it me or does it seem that many of the FA announcements were a surprise?
Did ANYONE predict a Portis-Bailey trade beforehand?
Wonder if the draft day will be the same - do we REALLY know who the team is interested in OR
have they already said it plain & clear to the media?

You folks keep beating yourself up trying to figure this stuff out. You'll be bald by time the draft rolled around. It is fun though.
