From what I noticed last year, I think Laveranues may be one of the hardest working players on the team. In the middle of this last woeful season, the man apologized for only catching 5 balls a game and said he would work harder. I feel very confident he will be ready for the season. He's still carrying the FSU/3rd round chip, so I think he will continue to impress us.

His injury shoudl have been taken care of via surgery this off-season, but they chose not to do that. I hope it does not bite us, and perhaps this may be one reason, we have held onto Rod Gardner.

I agree with SkinsKY. I think Coles will not let the injury bring down his season, he's too much of a fighter and a hard worker for that. I think he'll be more productive for us this year. He will have less catches, but far more touchdowns.

Coach Gibbs have said he won't need surgery and that rest is the best option.. it's still 3 1/2 months away from the season so i think he'll be fine.. he did individual work during mini-camps so he knows the playbook.. just has to catch up on actual football conditioning shape but we all know he's one of the hardest workers on the team. i loved it last year when he was basically the only player to take accountability for the team's woeful performance by going to the coaches and telling them he needs to do better.. thats coming from a guy who was our MVP last year imo. he's got tremendous heart.. true Redskin.

coles injury does bother me. so does ramsey's foot (shuler?). i hate to hear anything about lingering injuries, such as "turf toe", "high ankle sprain", "sore achilles" or "strained hamstring". it just sounds like something is getting ready to break. i assume coles would have had surgery if he needed it, so i'm thinking he will be ok.

Being the eternal optimist, I think Coach Gibbs is right . . .and Coles will work very hard to get into playing shape once the trainers and doctors let him step up his schedule.

I am not worried at all about Coles anyway....I pure class act. I just hope this will open up some time for Jacobs to get some reps....but we know who the real man is...(Coles).

I think Coles will be OK, as stated in earlier posts I think he has tremendous work ethic and this injury won't be a problem. This team definetly has depth at WR incase it takes longer than we thought.
This is the same guy that played in the pro-bowl w/ a broken foot - right? He'll be ready ...

even when he was hurt, he was busting his butt and still performing. he has plenty of time to heal, and i dont think he will jeopardize his health during the next few months by trying to prove to everyone that he is alright. coles is the man. he will be ok.

Yes, Coles is a hard worker and a class act. But I was very surprised to hear that his foot is still bothering him and that he is not participating in drills. As far as not having surgery, it sounded like they felt they were too far into the off season to have surgery and had therefore decided to try to rest it. I am worried about it. My fear is that they wait until training camp, find it is not better, then decide to have surgery, and he misses the first two months of the season. My opinion is he should have had it taken care of at the end of last season.

i think that coles will be fine. if he could play through the pain last year, then there is no reason that after time to heal, it could affect him.

I agree completely...this guy didn't mouth off about his injury, in fact kept it secret til almost the end AND he still very productive. I think he was our best acquisition last year and has all the markings of long-term Redskins player...unselfish and hard-working! I expect 80+ catches next season.
