Default Rating moves that sent stars packing

Shawn Springs, CB, Redskins

Champ Bailey is one of the best two or three corners in the game, a player who can shut down the opponent's top receiver, allowing zone to be played opposite him. Trading away premier corners in the prime of their careers is usually not a wise move. But the Redskins sent Bailey to the Broncos for running back Clinton Portis, meaning they had a big hole at one corner spot. To fill that hole they went out and got Springs, a former high first-round pick who has not played well the past couple of years. Springs has Pro Bowl ability when healthy, but injuries have slowed him and his play has deteriorated with it. But the new surroundings will help get his career back on track, especially if he can stay on the field. Springs has the ability. Is he as good as Bailey? Not quite. But he is more than capable of filling his shoes.

Springs will be adequate. I feel that he definitely has something to prove this year. Seems like he is really excited about starting this season with the Redskins and Joe Gibbs. If he stays healthy there will be no need to worry.

Springs sure is not Bailey, but he'll be a force in next year's def backfield. He's got all the necessary tools to suceed. His past years are gone, it's a new beginning for him, and he's totally motivated to show everybody he's still a damn good CB.
Injury possibility is a concern though, but there is depth enough at DB.

the drop off from bailey to springs is not as steep as the increase from trung/betts to portis. although i really wanted bailey to stay, we got springs and portis for what denver paid bailey. good move in my mind.

thats a good point, and it's the same for denver, they feel they can plug in a number of other running backs, but they really needed bailey. great trade for both teams.

Springs isn't replacing Bailey, Smoot is replacing Bailey as the teams #1 corner and I still believe that Smoot deserved to got the pro bowl more then Bailey did.

It was a ggod trade Portis will have more of an impact then Bailey would have.

To tell you the truth,
I'd rather have our secondary with: Springs, Smoot, Taylor, Ohalete and Portis running

than

A secondary with: Bailey, Smoot, Bowen, Ohalete, and Winslow causing problems to our team.

I can only wish Roland played as well as the mediots thinks he did last year.

It seems like the highlights from last year Roland was always getting beat.

thats a good point, he got beat plenty, and it's not like teams had to throw to catch up and couldnt run against us. he's one of the best at his position, but he's not head and shoulders above the rest. for what he is being paid in denver he should be used as punt and kick returner, plus wide receiver, plus corner.

Springs has a chip on his shoulder.. same w/ Samuels. u can even include Upshaw and Brunell for coming back from injury. and all the other new guys have something to prove as well.. Portis will tackle his Denver system issue.. Griffin and Daniels know they're here to improve the DL.. Barrow will prove to the Giants and the NFL at 34 he can still get it done. all these players are coming in here w/ something to prove instead of primadonas that get paid to come to a new team and feel a burden of getting a new contract off their chest and thus not peforming at the level they should.

Terrell, 28, has spent all four of his NFL seasons with the Redskins and has posted 188 tackles and six interceptions.

"Terrell, 28, has spent all four of his NFL seasons with the Redskins and has posted 188 tackles and six interceptions while playing defensive back and on special teams. He has played in 61 regular season games with 32 starts.

Last season, Terrell appeared in 13 league games for the Redskins and tied his career high in interceptions with two while adding 12 special teams tackles.

In 2001 and '02, Terrell started all 16 games for the Redskins. In '02, Terrell recorded 76 tackles while forcing two fumbles while in '01, he posted 93 tackles with a sack. He saw action in all 16 league games for the Redskins in 2000, finishing third on the team in special teams tackles with 17. Terrell was a seventh round selection by Washington in 1998 out of the University of Texas-El Paso"
Another DB that has moved on. The raiders picked him up today. Is this who Taylor is replacing.

im hoping that we will be able to create pressure upfront so that shawn wont feel too much pressure. that way, it'll appear as if he is shutting people down. i hope he has a good year and is happy in DC because he such a nice .
