Delhomme's deal
What do ya'll think about Delhomme getting $12 million up front? I think it's nuts. He's a likeable guy so good for him, but I think he is a very average QB.

i dont like it, i dont think he will do much because if you watched him, he would just kind of lob the ball up and the recievers would make fantastic catches, thus making him look better than he really is(for further proof see steve smith's diving catch against us to set up stephen davis' winning touchdown)

Yeah i just think Delhomme and the Panthers had a great run. Now that he got his payday, his play will deteriorate because he doesn't have a chip on his shoulder anymore. I never really thought he was that great in the first place.

I remember a certain poster here placing Delhomme alongside Unitas, so I'm sure he will think that was a great deal.

The Panthers will regret this. You heard it here first.

I'd like to know who also...and what in the world were they thinking?

You beat me to it Joe...lol...This reminds me of Seah Gilberts deal. Way over paid for a player who really hadn't done much to deserve that much money.
Delhomme had a great defense to play with. Does the name Trent Dilfer ring a bell?
As for Gilbert...while I've very thankful that the Panthers gave us two #1s for him, it was/is the biggest mistake they ever made....
So in the end...I think it will be the 2nd biggest mistake they've made.

I'll try to give him awhile to speak up if he still frequents our board.

Delhomme is not that BAD of a QB. Bear in mind that the Panthers Offense is a run first, pass 2nd situation. Now that Delhomme has shown he is a very decent clutch QB they may throw in a few more pass plays to keep Delhomme satisfied.
Let's not forget with that Defense the Panthers will remain a threat for quite some time.

BTW, I think this deal makes Brunell's look pretty good in comparison.

Hindsight is always 20/20 Kenny.

Throwing more will only expose him more. If defenses don't key in on the run as much, it'll just be more picks and no more Chris Berman singing "Daylight come and you wanna Delhomme." Which, of course, will make me very happy.

A great defense and solid running game will make any QB look much better than he actually is. That being said, other than his rocky start in the Super Bowl, he had a very good game against a good Patriot defense. This contract doesn't surprise me at all. What did Bulger get in St. Louis?

Yeah, that's a lot of money up front, but he did keep them in the SB. I don't mind it, I'm glad another team spends money!!!
