Lavar on NFL Access - 6/30
If you have the NFL Network then you can see him reporting on the BET awards on NFL Access tonight (Wednesday 6/30) at 7 pm and 10 pm.

Rich Eisen did a great interview with Lavar one on one.
- Lavar mentioned lots of excitement for the upcoming season. Placed alot of expectations on Gibbs shoulders. "The man has won 3 Superbowls... I havent even played in a playoff game. Everything is riding on Coach Gibbs".
- Referred to his first impression of the new coaching staff as "The Return of Coccoon". He wondered if they would be able to hang... "but that all changed once they stepped on the field."
- Called Gibbs the Man with the Midas Touch. Everything he touchs turns to gold. Also mentioned about Spurrier that he placed too much trust on the players... expected them to act like professionals and therefore had very little input or discipline from them. In opposite - Gibbs and Co. brought in discipline from the beginning.
- Called Portis a "horse". He can do anything.
** Also Lavar was in studio next to Brian Dawkins. They both expressed excitement for this season. Lavar mentioned TO and the Freak... while Dawkins mentioned Gibbs and Portis. Great banter!
A great interview overall... Lavar usually interviews with his emotions in his pocket... but he did seem to show some excitement and respect for Gibbs.

Thanks for the review! I'm pissed I missed it.
Interesting quote above. I'll be the first to agree that the Spurrier "trial" didn't work...but it's sad to think that grown millionaire men can't act like professionals without someone forcing it out of them.

I'm pissed that I don't have the NFL Network at all. Hate to miss LaVar speak about the Skins.

Lavar seems to have changed his tune since the announcement of Gibbs returning.

I agree! DIrectv is the way to go! I was so happy with it after experiencing the crappiness of cable for a few years, and the NFL Network is worth the price alone.
Yeah, great piece with Lavar. I thought it really came through that he's DESPERATE to win. He said that if Gibbs can't turn this team around, then he doesn't know if anyone can. I think the team really needs to have that sense of desperation this year. They are hungry.

I think everyone on this team is desperate to win ... this team has been losing since 1999, and if it wasn't for that year it would've been when Gibbs left the last time. I think LA is ready to win some games and hopefully he'll do his part this year.

Very good interview. LaVar genuinely seems excited and ready for the season. I just can't believe he was sitting next to an Iggle. Can you imagine 20 years ago Dave Butz doing an interview sitting next to Danny White or something?
Yuck.
