Default Defense ranked 4th in total yards in preseason

http://www.washingtontimes.com/sport...4730-4433r.htm

" Yesterday's NFL statistics had Washington No. 4 in total defense at just 248.7 yards a game. Under first-year assistant head coach for defense Gregg Williams, the Redskins seem headed back to a realm they occupied in 2000 under Ray Rhodes (No. 4), in 2001 under Kurt Schottenheimer (No. 10) and in 2002 under Marvin Lewis (No. 5). "

Yes we know, some of us just like to have HOPE. Seeing stuff like this gives me hope that i need!!

If our defense was last in the preseason, i dont think i could take the comment "Preseason doesn't mean anything!!!!!" I wouldnt be able to have the hope that i have now, that we can contend for the SuperBowl.

I don't need preseason to give me hope other that I HOPE we get out of preseason without any MORE major injuries...... The Real HOPE will come when we starting winning in the Regular Season .....Bottomline!!!!

It does seem funny that the Times would use pre-season stats to predict the season. Isnt that what made everyone look stupid during Spurriers reign?

Interesting that with as few compliments as Williams gives, he gives kudos to Phillip Daniels and says the defense is a lot better when he is out there. I'm telling you guys, Daniels is gonna be a playmaker. Along with Lavar, Marcus and Sean Taylor.

Yeah, but the Times always seems a little slower to pick up on things. The "Jimmy Johnson might be our coach" story comes to mind.

That was classic. Everyone else is running the Gibbs story and the Times has "Jimmy Johnson might be Skins coach" as a headline. Someone should have lost their job on that one.

It seems that some people are getting very worked up over the Miami game. We played well and I was happy with it. Penalties, turnovers, rushing game, qb protection, injuries, etc. BUT, this is still the preseason. Every offseason and preseason I've gotten all worked up and excited and every year I've been let down. So, I'm going to try to keep my hopes at a low and hopefully be suprised.

I said earlier in another thread that we shouldn't read too much into our defensive performance against Miami, who is heading for the cellar and, as Patrick pointed out, a top 5 draft pick next season.
