Redskins 40 Yard Dash Times?
Every year in TC, the Redskins used to get 40 times from all of their players. Darrell used to win every year. I think Cliff Russell won a couple of years ago. Anyway, does anybody know if we did 40 times this year? Are they available online anywhere? As cut time draws near, I'm interested in checking out speed measurements, as much as size and preseason game performance.
TIA!

I would like to see a league wide 40 time listing! I had the most ridiculous arguement with a co-worker the other day. He was saying how Warren Sapp was quicker than Simeon Rice and I told him he was out of his mind. But the only supporting documentation I could go off of was the speed rating on Madden '04.

A few years back, Florida State officials announced receiver Laveranues Coles (now with the Washington Redskins) had run a 4.16-second 40. Before the 2000 draft, he was clocked by NFL scouts at 4.37 -- still well above average.
One unidentified NFL general manager told The Sporting News: "No player anywhere runs a 4.1- anything."
None of that is to pick on McLemore, who is by all accounts a blur. But former NFL all-pro cornerback Deion Sanders, also a pretty fast guy, ran a 4.29-second 40 at the NFL Scouting Combine in 1989. That remains the fastest official (read: electronically timed) 40 time turned in at the Combine.

Cliff Russell had a blistering 40 time but had 2 catches in two years. Sean Taylor had a 'slow' time at his individual workout before the draft. How many interceptions (3) does he have so far this pre-season?
40 yd times are a good tool, but there are other factors in choicing a player. Sellers is the fastest Redskin? Interesting............

I could care less how fast a guy runs. You guys are looking at the wrongs stats. The only one that matters is how fast a guy PLAYS! Just look at Terrell Suggs from last year. He is a perfect example.

We all know that stuff...... We're not trying to find out for draft purposes or anything. Its just interesting to know who the fastest guys on the team are. Just like when we'd find out about Darrel Green's times. It doesn't stop at just speed for me either, though. I'm interested in knowing who can bench and squat the most too. Speed, strength; these are the things us average fans will be able to comprehend more than their fundamental skills of pro football. Thats why we want to know.

40 times are just for bragging rights among the players and to get a glimpse of what kind of speed the player has. Just because a player is fast, doesn't mean he'll be good and the same with slower times. But it's fun to see the times and compare them.
