Default A Guarantee

For some reason, I woke up this morning and I felt like a new person. I don't think anyone has been more depressed than me about our slow start, but I am guaranteeing every fan that the Redskins will regroup and beat the Ravens this week. Portis is going to rebound and play with a chip on his shoulder. Brunell will be effective but not dominate. The O-line is going to knock some heads. It'll be tough, but this is the week we get it turned around. I just have such a great feeling and I am never optimistic about a game. This is going to be the start of our trek back to .500 which we'll be in November. Then come December we just have to be play smart sound football including fewer penalties, no turnovers, and great defense.

I wish I was as confident as you. I was totally confident heading into the Cleveland game, but now, I'm not sure we know how to win.

keep in mind one thing: the skins are two turnovers from 3-1. Take back Portis' fumble sunday and Ramsey pick in the endzone against the Giants and they win those games.

i agree. If Gibbs had to simplify the system b/c the players werent able to grasp it then we just need to get some smarter players.

For some crazy reason - I agree Smoke. I work 5 blocks from the Ravens stadium and a couple of Ravens fans stated that they are "concerned" about SUnday. I felt good before the Browns game too, but this is different. I think we will win.

SM, i really admire your optimism. I feel you man. I was extremely confident going into the TB and Dallas games. I'm still in shock about the latter.
But, I really agree with you that we're gonna rebound from this funk we're in. If our oLine and backs have ANY pride they MUST come out with a HUGE chip on their shoulder this week. KC proved that the way to beat the quick b'more defense is to run right over them. I expect a good 'ole fashion smouth mouth style football game. This is the where our big guys up front have to show us what they're made of. And just when we're establishing some dominance up front look for Gibbs to pull out a closet classic, like a flea-flicker, for a long score.

this is what I dont understand: sure POrtis said that about the defense, BUT he also took full responsibility for fumbling(not only on sunday but against the Giants). Thats not the sign of a me-first whiney player.

its weird, but ever since gibbs left we've struggled in the division, but still managed to win a big game here and there that made you wonder...

the patriots and seahawks last season
colts and rams in 2002
ravens when they won the SB
the cowboys back when they were really good before the streak against us...

i think we shock the ravens with our ferocious physicallity and hopefully we build from there rather than sit back and admire the win.

Have we ever lost a game to the ravens preseason included? I don't think we have and I'm not a big stat guy at all but there is something to be said about an undefeated record against a team coming into our house. I also know what you guys mean about the win. I felt good going into the brown game but it was like I just expected us to win that one, but this time I'm really actually feeling a win.

Gibbs will never do a flee flicker, trust me...i think he had some horrible results with it back in the day...anyhoo, I wish i had your optimism, I don't know what we could do to help us.

Well...you mean we would have had a better chance of winning those games. Those turnovers were not the final stake in the heart of those games. They hurt....but not having them doesn't guarantee anything.

Actually...the Skins are 1-1 versus the Ravens in regular season games at Fed Ex Field. (I think we have won all of the preseason matchups)

The Ravens beat the Skins the first year of Fed Ex Field (1997) 20-17.

I disagree:
the Portis cost us 7 points: Who knows, but I think the Skins had the momentum and would have scored to start the second half.
the Ramsey pick surely cost us at least 3 points, and 20-17 score going into the final two drives would have been much different, Ramsey wouldnt have forced the ball in a deep pattern.
