We have a shot at making a respectable season out of this ugly first half. This next game, which is a very dangerous one vs. Cincy, is very crucial for us to get this thing going in the right direction. Dallas is struggling and we can pass them on the standings, and the Lions are struggling as well. I believe we can take one from the Eagles, and you don't know which Minnesota team will show up. It'll take fantastic playing from the Redskins, and a little luck, but we can make something out of this.

I think we could get ourselves back in the mix, but even if we fall just short I think we'll all have plenty to be enthused about with our team. These guys are such fighters and I think we're really close to turning it all around.

Also the Giants just lost both started DEs for the season so they're about to come back down to earth as well. It could be a dogfight for all involved.

we are not out of the playoff picture. Do not turn this into a QB debate but this is why we need to stick together as the season is not lost.

We have to beat Cincy though. Out of the next 3 games Cincy is a must win. Then we play on the road at Philly and at Pitt which are gonna be very tough

NICE JOB DEFENSE!!!!

Lost in all the negative talk about the Redskins' offense is the wonderful play of their defense. They are keeping teams out of the end zone. The Lions had 322 yards of offense to 229 for the Redskins, but the Washington defense made plays when it had to. Gregg Williams is a heck of a coordinator, which is why Joe Gibbs went out and targeted him shortly after taking the job as head coach. Williams' aggressive approach is just right for the modern NFL. Winning a game when your quarterback is 6-of-17 for 58 yards, which Mark Brunell was, says a lot about the defense, especially on the road. Recap: Redskins 17, Lions 10

I agree, this Cincy game is very important in more ways than one.

if everything falls in our favor, meaning that we win next week and most of the nfc teams who are tied for the 6th wildcard spot lose, we will be tied with a few teams for that 6th spot. we will need to have a heck of a second half of the season as we play pretty tough teams in the next five games: cincy, then phily, pittsburgh, gints, back to philly.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if the redskins win 3 of those games.

I am especially intrigued after watching the Eagles get dismantled today by a good defense (check) and running game (check). That game led me to think we can maybe sneak a game or two from them, and Minnesota looks like they are starting their second half collapse on schedule also. Throw in the Jeckly & Hyde Dallas and Giant teams and our schedule maybe isnt as hard as it first appears.

Maybe I am just an extreme optimist, but making the playoffs at 9-7 doesn't seem impossible given the weakness of the NFC right now. We just need to take it one game at a time.
I think 10-6 can still get us in.

The only important thing about Brunell's performance on Sunday is that he didn't turn it over, which, if he is only going to throw for 60 yards, is paramount in importance, and necessary for a playoff run.
