Can't really complain about Clemens getting it. If Johnson had played on a better team he probably would have won it though.

Nothing against Clemens, but I think Johnson deserved it more.
It's not his fault he is surrounded by crap.

I beg to differ he could of played for the dodgers (not exactly crap)......

July 28 ESPN's Peter Gammons reports that Randy Johnson (P) ARZ. told D'Backs general manager Joe Garagiola on Tuesday night that he would not accept a trade to the Dodgers. Johnson said it's either the Yankees or nothing.

Yeah, he could have accepted that trade, but that still doesn't dismiss the fact that he pitched his butt off in Arizona with little help surrounding him. I think that you have to look beyond the win-loss record sometimes when dishing out these awards.
Again, I'm not taking anything from Clemens. What he did at age 42 is simply incredible, but if I had a vote, I would have given it to Johnson. I wish he would accept a trade to Atlanta.

Kinda off topic here, but I have been wondering if Andy Pettits ego is damaged? Afterall, Clemens was supposed to be retired this year. And AP was supposed to be the man. And here comes RC in dominate....

Carmike in reply to your question- Roger Clemens is Andy Pettite's best friend in major league baseball and vice versa. Andy actually was a huge part of talking Roger out of retirement to play in 2004 for the Astros. I don't think Andy is that kind of guy anyway. I think if Roger doesn't play next year everyone including Andy knows he'll still be #2 on the rotation behind Oswalt.

Johnson was more impressive, but the award goes to the most important pitcher to his team, and no one was more important than Roger. He started the season 9-0 and the Astros won his last 9 starts. Thats phenominal. If the award didn't go to Clemens it should have gone to Brad Lidge, he was the most dominating pitcher this season in baseball and was so important to why the 'Stros finished 36-10.

Johnson is always more impressive, but Clemens is putting a strong argument together for best pitcher ever to play the game.
Clemens stats are amazing and they stack up favorably against the legends

Yeah, I knew about Andys and Rogers relationship. Thats why I was wondering if Pettites ego was hurt, just a little.
I haven't followed AP since he was a Yankee. So I didn't know about him as a person....Thanks Texas Skin....
