Ok, I just looked at his bio. He seems to also have a strong background on special teams. So we got a guy that can play cb, safety and special teams. In my mind a perfect candidate for an active roster "Backup". Put him in fulltime at special teams and then give him some reps at safety and cb and if someone gets hurt he we can start him. Unless of course matt can't come back at the same level, which is quite possible considering his injury.

I've been really impressed with clark at safety, but i think he ought to stay in that position, regardless of size. it's mainly his tackling, hard hitting, and linebacker-esque nose for the ball that's been getting him so much praise, NOT his speed and coverage skills. This league's pushing more and more for corners who are quick, not physical, and i think clark doesn't have the speed to keep up on the outside. So, in my opinion, lets hope he doesnt have to play cb.

i think bowen will keep his job, he was having a great season, was dominant on special teams, also if anyone has read his column that was posted on the main page today, he has been learning to read defenses better. since he can't do anything else he's been studying tape. he gives scouting reports to the other players. if bowen heals 100 percent i think he will be better next year than he would have been this year

very true...the first play of the miami game of last year comes to mind, respectively, taht we gave up to chris chambers if I am correct. I like this Clark kid. With him and Taylor back there, our secondary is nasty. Maybe if Williams stays around he can try and use 3 safeties more often? Or maybe pull up Taylor to linebacker or something.

It's Matt Bowen's job. Rayn Clark will see alot of play time. Let's not forget the devastating hit stht Bowen can deliver. Clark is small, does well in pass defense. BUT Bowen adds the element of devastating hits. Imagine, just imagine, Lavar Arrington, Matt Bowen, and Sean Taylor. Someone is going to lose their head.

Matt Bowen played the wrong position last year (Which was it? Free safety as opposed to Strong Safety or vise versa?) anyway, they put him where he was more comfortable this season, and that's why we saw great things from him before he got hurt.

How many sacks did he have this year already? It stinks that I can't find the stats anywhere
sorry mom!

BTW, Clark is signed next year as well. He was signed last year to a 2 year deal.

How's that? I thought he was cut this year after training camp and brought back.

Nope, I can't remember where but I read an article stating that Williams wanted to cut during preseason but held onto him for some reason. Went on to say that he's happy that he didn't let him go.....

You are absolutely right, I just remembered the Wash. Post reported he was cut but the coaches had to call him to say its not true.

Salavea', Clark and Pierce are getting SERIOUS looks right now. Every defensive scout will be glued to the screen Sunday night.

Bowen's starting. but as mentioned above, with Gregg Williams its not a sticking point.

i think that there will be an open competition but assuming bowen can make a complete recovery i think that he will lock up the position...that is not taking anything away from clark, who has been incredible and a tremendous surprise this season, bowen is simply more gifted...
Clark is a tackling machine...but bowen seemed to show a knack for blitzing the quarterback, when he blitzed he was disruptive i can't say the same about Clark (thought that might change with age)
